Seems like the Score is 80% gambling or fantasy sports, must be the target market with disposable cash?

The score mostly sucks these days but the percentage is more like 15-20% at most.

The problem is the remaining 80% is markedly less compelling than it was even 2 years ago, let alone 5-10.

Like Furious, my sports feeling has definitely declined over the past few years. Fantasy Football Talk is Nails on a chalkboard. I don't necessarily mind gambling talk in small dosist. I used to know quite a bit about the NFL and MLB as a whole, now it's definitely more bears and White Sox Centric. I've watched more PGA Tour over the last few years more than anything probably.

Stick to ranking Scorsese movies. You stink at mult hunting.

What’s more annoying?

Furious Style’s gate keeping

Or Jbi11s’ mult hunting

Should be a poll.

When I hit submit on this post I realize I will now be stalked by FS around the board.

Worth it.

The answer to this is simple- it's a combination of all the things which have all been mentioned in this thread already from all the different streaming services and the many, many options they provide to cord cutters due to high cable prices to kids and young adults not being into watching sports as much as Gen X and boomers to BLM protests to a lack of fans in the stands and to the overall angst and civil unrest in the country. It's all of these factors.

Personally, my viewing sports habits haven't changed over the last year but over the last 5 years or so they have changed dramatically. I used to watch the NFL every Sunday and just about every playoff game but nowadays football is an afterthought. I usually turn on the Bears game on Sunday but I won't watch any of it Monday. I don't watch any college football or basketball anymore while I used to be a college sports junkie. I will flip on a baseball game periodically but nothing like in the past. I haven't watched the NBA much since Jordan. But I do watch every lap of the Nascar race every week and probably half of the Xfinity races. I enjoy watching cycling and watch most of the Tour de France, the one day classics, and will watch extended highlights on Youtube of other races. And I get the NHL package and watch 3-4 games per week during the regular season and watch the entire playoffs. So overall, my sports viewing has gone down a little over the years but the sports I watch, I watch more closely than in the past.

This response only reinforces my belief you are an incel.

Most of your posts give me a strong incel vibe.

There are a few others on this board who fit the type.

Hefty is one of the Reynolds brands, which is local and a big Cubs sponsor....notice their rain tarp is labeled is Reynolds wrap? Yep. Same company.

They are watching sports. Just not the traditional ones. Kids these days are competing in tiktok and instagram

As far as football, most people i know hated the kneeling. I live in a racist state though

I also think the empty stadiums are a big part. I dont watch hockeym. But i know if i go to a uw badger hockey game, its fun. And for the rest of that season i watch them on tv because it reminds me of being there.

Also, how the fuck do they know how many people are watching anymore? A shit ton of people use their friends hulu accounts or just find links online.

I think this is entirely accurate to say, but I don't think it necessarily impacts bringing younger audiences into spectating and fandom. The tanking doesn't bother me as much as it does many, but I do fully understand why it's a problem for others. The expansion and watered down level of play is a big problem for me. You not only get lower quality, but then you get the team relocation drama due to empty seats in the stadium....just a a whole bunch of problems from over expansion.

I forgot about tanking, the REAL legacy to baseball of Theo Epstein.

Who would want to watch a game when the management is telling you in advance of the season that its strategy is to lose as many games as possible in order to purchase a lottery ticket? Then all the trained seals in the media tell you how stupid you are for not enjoying the brilliance of the plan

Blame the Jews for everything

Theo did not invent tanking or rebuilding

Dont respond, just accept that Im right

After the WS ends this week the only sport out there is football. NFL and NCAA. And they only play on weekends and a game on Monday night.

I'm not sure when the first time it happened. I know Cekyics attempted it with Tim Duncan in the Pitino years

I thought tanking started in hockey, multiple teams trying to lose to draft Mario Lemeiux.

He certainly started the trend especially with how blatant it was. It's not really a value judgement on it. It's the way the rules are setup. Unless you are a team that prints money you should sell off everyone you can, be bad for 2-3 years, and then hope that things work out.

When the White Sox win the World Series, I'll tip my cap to Theo for his role in the title.

Examples? Baseball is preferred but other sports can also be used. The formula is good team gets rid of everyone to lose on purpose for multiple years and try and win 3-5 years later.

The NBA literally invented the draft lottery to combat this

Rockets
Penguins/Devils
Celtics

And the Cubs were not a good team when Theo took over so that part is false
