The next 3 batters had gone 0-6 with 6 Ks against Snell

People will be talking more about this move than the dodgers winning the world series.

I heard Cash got a call from Nagy congratulating him on holding true to himself and doing his own thing even when it is apparent to everyone else that it is the wrong thing to do.

This is what happens when you are a slave to analytics, forgetting that the analysis is a tool rather than a mandate.

That’s basically what Smoltz said during the broadcast

Yep. It is the thing Irish Boy never seemed to get when he posted here about this stuff. You are not dealing with robots.

I'll never understand why Snell let Cash take him out without a fight.

If you think you're the best player on the field, you die fighting.

Agreed. Maybe the outlash at this stupid decision will be the event that pushes things back the other direction

Yeah as it happened I was thinking about that too...imagine if that was John Lackey...or even Lester.

So you want him to physically fight the manager on the mound, while awesome, probably wouldn't go over well.

Yes, we want him to physically fight

I want them to tell the manager to take his ass back to the dugout.

Jack Morris would've kicked the manager's ass.

And no one on his team would've stopped him.

It was too late, by the time Snell realized he was coming out, Cash had already signaled. Snell had his back turned and when he turned around and realized Cash was out, he had signaled. That is when Snell started swearing.

Dave Stewart as well.

His front office probably supports the specific move but definitely supports the underlying philosophy behind it

Incredibly stupid move. Not even Renteria would have done something this stupid.

Analytics people often don't have a clear understanding of the games, player psychology or especially the playoffs.

The analytics said Betts has the worst slugging % against lefties in the league. Good time to pull your dominant starter who had owned the top of the lineup.

At one time, "RBI" and "ERA" was a made up language too.

Analytics are quite useful. Using only analytics is silly, just like using only RBI, HR, etc can be silly.

Regardless of favoring traditional or advanced metrics, sometimes you just have to let the guys play. There isn't a formula for simply knowing that your starter "has it" and letting him continue to mow batters down.
