I'm at the bottom end of Gen X and we had much the same worldview. In my book the most interesting difference between Gen X and Millenials is the earnestness of the Millenials. It's probably better for the country that they at least appear to care about things, but it's the kind of attitude that would have gotten you mocked in the 90's.

The first Borat was a great movie. This one not so good. There were a few funny parts but not many. To duplicate the first would be impossible. At this point anyone that doesn’t know who Borat is living under a rock.

You know I love you JoRR, but please show me anyone who has taken on the elite class like Ali G did.

There are a lot of dumbass working class people.

Who really cares if Borat makes a joke involving them?

I wanted to like the first one, but I watched it twice and never got past the first half hour. I'll probably try this one after baseball.

I LoLed at some parts, and thought there were some good jokes in this one.

Some jokes fell flat.

Unfortunately, it’s predecessor was one of the funniest movies ever made, and that’s a lot to be compared with.

I probably laughed 2-3 times. It really wasn't a Borat movie. It was Sasha Baren Cohen dressing up as different characters. I thought it was terrible.

To each is own.

He can’t really play Borat in America because too MANY people recognize him.

It’s the same thing that happened with his Ali G character.

Rarely when you wait this long for a sequel does it turn out to be any good. Most times it seems they're incapable of recapturing the magic of the first movie.

It was funny. I don't know what some of you expected. It's not like Borat 2 was going to deviate far from the blueprint of Borat 1.

I'm annoyed that the Cyrillic logo doesn't actually spell "Borat".

I think it's all part of the layered joke. Borat doesn't speak a slavic language, except for a couple of phrases. He's speaking Hebrew

Agreed. I thought it was funny for what it was. I was amused. It was a little raunchier

I just got the feeling that Cohen slapped this together to make a political statement just before this election.

If I were writing a movie to fool a group into expressing their uncomfortable truth, using giving away an "underaged" girl as the storyline, my first stop isn't the deep south, a racist rally or an interview with Rudy. My first stop is Hollywood or Nickelodeon Studios. He could have mined material from much more obvious locations. However, he chose the far right as his focus. Those people were largely pretty sympathetic to the girl as it turned out.

Also, its pretty clear his world view is that that everyone is anti semetic, painfully trying to draw it out of people when it isn't even present.

it wasn't laugh out loud funny but it I was entertained. It was a good respite from the pandemic/covid lockdown. perfect release of tension we are all feeling.

I thought the first movie was already a step down from the show. This is like Jordan coming out of retirement the second time.

The first one was far more real and dangerous.. But the 2nd one... Man did he get into some republican events that was impressive. And that chick that plays daughter was awesome. Two different movies for sure. 2nd one has a lot more charm. But first one was funnier because he caught so many people completely off guard.

Yeah, he rushed it. When COVID hit, he he decided to make it part of the theme of the movie. Which made it suck. The first half was funny. Then it was forced to finish it.

I enjoyed her lifting up her dress at that formal dinner, to do a dance, as she was bleeding because of her period. That was funny. I especially liked how proud she was to show that off. That's what made it hilarious.

THIS.
I got 30 min into it but went to bed. Some funny parts so far, but his premise of making a conveniently timed political statement is kind of a turn-off for me.

i'll watch the rest eventually...I'm sure it will be funny, but gee...Cohen doesn't like Trump / Pence....big shocker there.

well if you watch his interviews he admits he was trying to troll republicans as much as he could.

but overall the movie had a great storyline and i like it a lot. i do understand its edited to make things seem like they went down worse than they really did, which makes me wonder if rudy actually did think he was about to get laid. it's hard to tell, theres either extremely damning footage that they chose to leave out, or they edited it to make it seem worse than it was. I don't remember any part where he was informed she was 15 before it went down, but id have to watch it again. she didnt look 15 in that interview, or sound like it.

He’s made his disdain for Trump known publicly since “The Brothers Grimsby” in 2016.

He had a series on Showtime last year that specifically targeted Republicans.

His loathing for the right isn’t a surprise if you’re a fan of his.

I was apprehensive about watching this movie, because I find most Trump humor redundant and low effort.

Cohen was able to find some fresh ways to tell Trump jokes.

I appreciated that.

Do you feel the same way about Rudy? How about Buzz Aldrin? Did Trump know he was fake when he was planning on stealing the idea for ice cream gloves? If everyone knows he's fake, it isn't really funny at all, is it?

The difference with Rudy is he didn't meet Borat until the very end when he ran away quite quickly. If Rudy thought it was fake then he's an idiot for going along with it. Trump did the ice cream gloves thing in 2006.

Yes, comedies don't rely on the people in it thinking it is real to be funny. It's not like the people in the movie Airplane! actually thought they were really flying a plane.

Sacha Baron Cohen's humor absolutely relies on the belief that the people he is targeting aren't in on the joke. If he hires a bunch of actors to chant "Throw the Jew down the well" with him, that isn't funny. It's only the belief that he is exposing some anti-Semitic hillbillies that makes it "funny".
