Clock cleaned? They were within 6 and driving. As the GOAT would say, they didn’t lose, they just ran out of time.

That being said they lost to a team that was literally trying to lose.

You watch the game? Looked to me that the Vikings were trying to win.

why did packers got for 2 instead of 1 to be down 7. that seemed risky

why not call a timeout w/ 2:30 left instead of letting it go down to 2min? they would have had like 1:30 to work with at the last drive then.

Because if they got it a td wins. If they didn't get it they have another shot at a 2 pt to tie which they'd only be doing if they took the 1 point try.

it was 28-20. if they kick the pat it's 28-21. then if they score they just need another pat to tie and play OT at home which is in their advantage.

You said "strong winds made for a strange game". Game didn't seem so strange on the part of the Vikings - they executed. Seems like you're suggesting wind was a factor for the Packers but not the Vikings.

String winds affected the passing game quite a bit. That helps like a team like Minnesota more. I didn’t realize I had to spell this out but I forgot I’m talking to the guy who recently wondered if a sack or incomplete pass was a better offensive play.

Nope, you're just peddling soft excuses for horrid defense on the part of GB. If everyone knows Minny is running then why can't the supposedly strong defense of GB - you've said they're strong on numerous occasions - clamp down. Take the L here and admit the defense blows.

GB has a good pass defense and a bad run defense. Most weeks that’s gonna mean you have a solid defense.

It only looks like that when the defense didn't bother to do anything. You know damn well the Vikings are tanking.

Well the Vikings just gave everyone a blueprint for how to beat the Packers.

There’s literally no such thing as tanking in the nfl. That’s an idiotic narrative. The Jets are trying to win games still currently

The downs reset so your timing scenario wouldn’t have been correct. The Vikings got a 1st down and the Packers would only have 2 timeouts. 30 seconds saved or 45? They ran for 8 on 1st down so playing for the next set of downs made sense.

Agreed. All David Montgomery has to do is play like Dalvin Cook and the Packers would be in trouble against the Bears. We’ll see if that happens.

Well a blueprint for everyone except the Bears. Im not sure they could run on the Saint Francis Home For Elder and Memory Care flag football team.

Again: half, downs, punt, downs, TD, fumble. That is a Bearsesque streak of possessions there.

If only football games worth 65 minutes long and it wasn't windy today!

Yes, they had some bad possessions today and lost a game. It happens. You’re trying to make a non-existent point.

I know what it means. I believe I used it properly. Tanking simply does not exist in the NFL. It never has.

Of course it has. I don’t mean the players aren’t giving their all and generally not from the start of a season - although the 2019 Dolphins certainly looked like it. But after a season is clearly done it’s pretty clear when management has packed it in. Colts for Andrew Luck? Tampa for Winston?

Edit: if forgot about the 2016 Browns.

None of the examples you mentioned were clear tanking, and it’s laughable you included the 2019 Dolphins in there because no single team from recent memory helps my point more than them.

Bad teams exist and always will. No NFL team is out there trying to lose a game. You’ll never see an equivalent to the Mark Madsen Tanking game in the nfl. That’s my only point and my use of literally was correct.

It’s certainly less common in the NFL but you’re dead wrong to say it literally hasn’t happened. And “clearly” is subjective.

Ok. I guess we can drop it because I do think you are clearly wrong here. I don’t think there’s any subjectivity needed. I believe you are conflating bad teams with tanking.

A team can have 52 players trying their best but still be tanking.

I’m ready to drop it as well and I wish you well this afternoon. But as a last comment - why did the Bucs pull their starters in the 2nd half of a game they were leading?...game 17 btw.

Hard to say. Lovie’s had a rough football tenure since being fired by the bears.

Change players to players and coaches and I think you’re wrong. Zimmer’s not coaching to lose games right now.

49ers are not what they were last year but they are more than enough to extend the Packer losing streak
