My hometown of Antioch, IL was nationally put on the news thanks to Kyle Rittenhouse....small town, but it's been on the national news for a few key moments over the years.

This is definitely a "Who Cares" thread, but hey.....it's something to talk about other than the election

1. Mob Shooting / Fox Lake Massacre. Al Capone and George "Bugs" Moran had summer homes in Antioch on Bluff Lake.

2. Woody Kelly - Financial Investor that fleeced people approximately $5-7 million. Woody conveniently disappeared in 1985.

3. TJ Nank (18) strangles 15 yr old girl near school bus stop

4. 17 yr old Kyle Rittenhouse decided he needed to save the state of Wisconsin from rioters and looting.

Local H was indeed Zion...not Antioch.

But in terms of musicians.....
1) Garrett Hammond - Drummer for Kill Hannah grew up a few blocks from me (Button 48)

2. Ryan Stanek - Origninal drummer for deathcore band Broken Hope was a classmate of mine at ACHS

RIP, Panek!

Thrash metal with death lyrics and a guy farting in a microphone while being credited as a "vocalist"

In the mid-80s, the legal drinking age in Illinois was 21, while Wisconsin bars were only 18. I made many road trips to “Horsin’ Around,” which was a bar about 100 yards across the boarder north of Antioch. Some fond memories there.

Then you probably hung out with my older sister.
Horsin' Around is now a restaurant called "the Fire Pitt". Awesome Fish boil on Fridays.

The Blood Boarder was well publicized, and it was at the beginning of MADD. As unrealistic as this may sound, we would usually have 6 guys in a Chevy Citation, and would alternate a DD each week. The system actually worked. Although no one wore seat belts, and we rarely got laid.

They sure did. My band played at that bar multiple times. The episode was highly over-dramatized. The owner primarily ran day-to-day and lived upstairs was not a raging drunken idiot. He was a really good dude and had a day job as cross-country truck driver. His vision for the bar wasn't profitable, but at the same time Bar Rescue's vision wasn't realistic, either.

Right now the property serves as a convenience store and fishing supply store.
