I loved that he walked out on stage with a lit cigarette in hand on network television and motioned for the microphone like, "come on, give me the mic, it's you and I, strap it in and let's do this." It had a real comedy club feel.

I sometimes forget about mass shootings before Covid. And his Freddie Mercury/Trump joke was awesome. Enjoyed the silence after he said there were bad people on both sides.

The 1st skit was terrific and the rest was a boring mess (except for Weekend Update).

16 minute monologue.

The last 3 minutes.

First skit I think.

The uncle ben piece was pretty good and so was Chapelle's monologue. Other than that the rest wasn't anything to brag about.

I thought Maya Rudolph nailed it as Vice President Elect Harris.

Indeed. Facial expressions and voice inflections were right on

Just watched the opening monologue. He definitely mailed it in.

Carey as Biden is pretty funny. Harris is pretty good too.

I watched the monologue on YouTube, and it was funny but not “he killed it!” funny, I think Chapelle is really good, maybe the best going right now but I also think because it’s Chapelle people sometimes are willing every bit he does to be comedy genius. It was good but not laugh out loud good. It was “quietly smile a few times” good. He DEFINITELY has the whole “cool” thing down, he is smooth.

Rudolph stepped all over a couple of really good lines in there. She should have let the job security line sit out there for a minute rather than rushing along

I'd never noticed before, but Maya Rudolph looks exactly like one of my grandmothers.

I saw the 12/12 episode recently. I'm a huge Springsteen fan but, my god, he's really flipping old and his voice is starting to slip. I think we need a moratorium on people performing live rock music post 70.

Sadly, I have to agree. The guy is in phenomenal shape for his age, and the new album has some good songs, but...the whole band is old (except for Jake), and they sounded like it. I don’t know what’s going on with Little Steven, but he looked horribly bloated, and seemed like he wasn’t going to make it through the songs.

John Krasinski is clearly taking HGH for his Jack Ryan role.

What's the deal with Machine Gun Kelly? I thought he was a rapper?

The skit where they bragged about kicking a Trump supporter out of a diner was disturbing.

They could have been interesting and finished the opening What Doesn’t Work segment with SNL.

But that’s more introspective than they tend to be.

I think everyone goes through a Saturday Night Live phase and then they realize every show is one good sketch surrounded by shit.

Plus, it had the annoying and talentless Kate McKinnon...she is possibly the worst cast member there.

Wrong. McKinnon is talented as hell; if you just don’t like her, then fine. Her only problem is that she has been there too long, and IIRC, is transitioning out of the show, because she has other irons in the fire.

I’ve said it for years: the cast is too big, and the show formula is stale as hell. Cut the cast in half, make the show an hour, and shorten the sketches. Don’t do a long host monologue every week, unless that host can carry it. Change up the Weekend Update - make it a single anchor. Give the musical guest one spot for no more than 8 minutes.

I can see being annoyed by McKinnon, but she's arguably the most talented person on that show. Cecily Strong, on the other hand, brings absolutely nothing to the table. She's basically got two characters: sultry woman and dumb woman, both are tired.

I wouldn’t touch Weekend Update. Week in and week out, it's one of the funniest skits on the show.

I think SNL has been pretty good the last 2 weeks. They came back well from a 4 week break.

I've been critical of them. But they've had some good stuff the last 2 shows.
