Has anyone here ever met a bridge tender, or actually know one?

Yeah. One of my uncle's closest friends was a bridge tender. I'm not even sure if they exist anymore. Maybe a couple guys who have a little clout and are grandfathered in.

One of our daughters who works downtown asked me on Sunday how much it cost the city to leave a bridge up all week.

So I was wondering if any bridge tenders were still around.

Or, have you ever taken a shit in a bridge tender's booth while you were fucking a chick you met at Jenni's ice cream after your Bible study group meeting in which the group leader incorrectly explained the distinction between transubstantiation and consubstantiation?

They seem to have all the good jobs. Best gig I’ve seen was the guy at sears tower that just pushed buttons on the elevator. Half the time you would have to take one of the other elevators up to the top to wake him up so that he could pick up some freight from the ground floor.

I knew one, but not in Chicago. He was the tender of the drawbridge here on the St. Joe river. Super guy, did high school football radio broadcasts probably back into the 1970's up to when my kids were playing. Very community-youth supportive. He hosted the high-school quiz bowl competitions on the local radio, as well.

Probably not as well compensated as the big city tenders, but I am pretty sure it's actually a state job here in Michigan.
