I was running some errands yesterday during my lunch and stopped at Costco. On my way out I see a guy and two Costco employees wrestling a large box up into the back of the customers pick up truck. Apparently he had just purchased a new 86 inch flat screen TV. I knew that TVs were getting bigger but I seriously had to do a double take and just admire the sheer size of the thing and good old time this guy was going to have watching it. My wife and I bought a 65 inch TV maybe 2 years ago and I honestly could probably go as much as 75 and get away with it and not look completely ridiculous but I just don't need one that big. Just curious what everyone else had and if anyone could beat the 86 incher ( projection doesn't really count ).

Don't know if they make them any bigger. I think I remember seeing a 100" prototype at Abt (which always seems to get the latest and unique stuff) but at the time they said it was over $100k if you wanted it.

65. I could probably go bigger but I really don't see the point.

65" is about as big as we could go over the fireplace, with 8' ceilings.

96" and it's a projector...in 1080p, so I think it is valid.

55"

We have had such shitty luck with TVs over the last 10 years. I replaced my ancient 32" CRT-TV in 2010 and I am currently on my 3rd TV since then. A Panasonic plasma and then a LG LED crapped out and our 55" TLC has had all sorts of issues and I doubt it last 6 months. I simply won't spend more than $500 on a TV since I am only averaging 3 years per TV. And we don't even watch that much TV.

I think i paid $425 last Xmas for our 65" Samsung. It was a couple year old model with shitty reviews. So far, it's been awesome.

The only TV we have is a 42’ Phillips I bought in 2008. It was on clearance for $700. It’s insane how big of a TV I can get for $700 now and also insane how cheap I could get a 42’

I know. After I got divorced in 2012 I bought a 46 inch Samsung for like $1000. You can get one for under $300 today and probably a much better tv.

My LG is 75" and almost perfect, except for some light bleeding in dark scenes. Next upgrade will be the 77" LG OLED.

If you're in the market for a budget sound bar with Bluetooth subwoofer, which are imperative for getting the most out of these TVs, try to find the Vizio SB3621 or its replacement the V21. I can't believe how good mine has sounded. I think i paid $120 a couple years ago.

65 which replaced a 64 plasma. I miss that plasma. I looked at 75s but the price step was more than I wanted and I’m not sure the 75 would be needed in the space the tv is in.

55" I thought about grabbing a larger one this year to replace an old tv, but then I remembered that I had this one collecting dust in my son's old room. My next purchase will be a nice recliner to put off to the side of it.

Purchased an 85" Sony back in January. Went to Costco and Best Buy to compare all different models. Most of the newer (2020) models looked no different to me than 2019 (considerably cheaper) models. I did my research reading comments from videophile nerds online over at CNET/Best Buy/Youtube.

Wound up picking this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-85-class-led-x850g-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/6331606.p?skuId=6331606

Pulled the trigger on Amazon a few weeks before the Super Bowl. Price had dropped from $2,499 down to $1,999. I'm extremely happy.

This time last year, their series 6 was supposedly the best bang-for-your-buck TV. I bought my parents a 55" series 4 for $300 and they were amazed how much better it was than their old non-HD TV. Granted, I am having problems with mine but they get some great reviews overall.

We've got a 40 inch in the living room and a 46 inch downstairs. You actually get used to everyone else's being bigger than yours pretty quickly. Mine satisfies me.

depends how far away you sit. my living room tv is only 10ft from the couch, so a 55" is pretty good size. for me though, picture quality matters a lot. all of the budget tvs have a tradeoff with realism. it gets worse as you go bigger. you can get bright color popping budget tv's that are fine for sports, but watching movies you really want a mid grade or higher end tv. it makes a huge difference in enjoyment when the picture looks incredible.
