In intensive care. "Resting comfortably"

https://www.newser.com/story/298801/tom ... -care.html

Seems to be the obligatory cue to the media to get their obits ready for this week.

Love my guy Tommy, got to meet him at Miller Park at the 2018 NLCS. I was amazed at how short he was.

Met him as a yoot a couple times in Vero Beach when they still had Spring Training there. Have an autographed baseball somewhere.

Like Tommy Heinsohn, who just died last week, one of those guys who has never not been part of the organization. Lasorda hasn't been working, but I'm sure he's had some sort of team-ambassador sinecure.

Couldn't admit his son was gay.

It could be being 93 years old after a lifetime of vino and pasta, but Covid is probably right.

He'll be counted as a COVID death twice.

Who can 'rest comfortably' in the ICU?

Yeah, but is about as tall as a dwarf these days. It was shocking how little he was.

My in-laws live in Vero, and the last time we were down there I did a drive by the old Dodgers facility. It was neat - the stadium is still there and they still use it for a variety of events, but it was hard to imagine that a major league team ever trained there. There was a little golf course right next to the fields where apparently all the dodger greats used to go play and drink and gamble after workouts were done for the day. The old stadium looked awesome, i would have liked to go in. None of todays players or teams could ever imagine training somewhere like that these days.

Some of the Dodgers stayed in the condo complex my grandparents were in, Ocean Club 1-3 and Caledon Shores near the old Seaburger. We don't stay in Vero when we vacation in Florida any more, but we're close enough we always drive up for a dinner at the Ocean Grill.
