The second Ricketts started beating the drum that money doesn’t buy WS and pointed to how much they’ve already spent, that was indicative that he was being critical of how Theo was allocating the money.

Yeah I get that.

I’m saying they made it seem like we’d at least get him for the last year of his deal.

Sure. But neither side wanted that. Why would he execute moves that effect the organization in the long term with one year left?

Theo doesn't have the money to buy into an ownership interest. If he negotiated ownership as part of his compensation it would be some insignificant percentage. Maybe he is planning on putting a group together with him as the managing partner but who has very little skin in the game, as Reinsdorf did.

we all knew it was hoyer as the guy who would take over. didnt he just get coffee for theo?

but what's the story behind the story here? Did Theo want to keep the same guys going into 2021? and Ricketts and others wanted to rebuild?

Sounds like maybe a struggle there and Theo decided to quit or forced to 'resign'.

There is no story and there is no struggle, but you remain an idiot.

No there def is a story because wasn’t everything kumbaya a month ago?

Just trying to get idiot to use up his daily post count early in the day.

If ownership is upset about the lack of pitching Epstein developed then why replace Epstein with basically Epstein's secretary the last 8 years?

Hoyer will be a Yes Man to Ricketts.

We should have gone after someone from the Dodgers or Rays organization.

They didn't want to tamper again with the Rays.

His dumb idea to limit his post counts per day as a cheap way to get attention to himself that he clearly isn't ever following through on.

Hasn’t Theo’s M.O. always been develop hitters , sign pitching through Free Ajentcy ?? Ricketts shouldn’t be mad at that .

It was his stated M.O. but....the combination of developing absolutely zero pitching while also missing on key, expensive free agents really crippled the organization the last few years and into the foreseeable future.

Also, Theo continually over valuing the hitters he drafted and not trading them at or near their peak value was the cherry on top.

Someone help me understand why it would be in the teams best interest interest to non/tender certain players rather than trade them? Like Schwarber. Simply to avoid paying them anything and/or the trade value is so incredibly low?!?

Lots of happy Cubs fans. WS terrific. But, too many monster misfire moves, drafts, money management. Never would man up to the Heyward trainwreck for one was insulting. Good riddance crazy Joe, now Theo.
