How many World Series titles in Chicago did Veeck win?

So Theo and Kenny are tied I guess.

Theo has the better legacy by far. You have to include the World Series in Boston when comparing GM's.

They are pretty equal if are just comparing Chicago records.

Kenny has the lead if comparing Chicago records. He didn't quit and is on the verge of putting together his 2nd WS team.

How can anyone sanely rationalize that a guy that didn't bring a single Championship is the best "ever". I'm honestly curious?

I mean you have

Jim Finks(Bears)
Theo(Cubs)
Krause(Bulls) hate him or not
Tallon/Bowman for the Hawks.

It's just an incredibly stupid thought.

I agree. Being the best promoter is not the best GM ever. You can't be the best at anything if you were never the best in your league.

I object. Speculative at best.

Objection sustained. I was just trolling. Kenny is a fucking loser that took 12 years off in between putting decent teams together

I think a better troll job is to point out that if you knock out the WS teams of both, that the difference between Kenny and Theo is that Theo won 2 Division series and a wild card game.

Bears are probably benefiting most from the news, as it takes the spotlight off of their ineptitude.

Theo not receiving any payment from Cubs in 2021 is interesting.

Deferred settlement? You have to think some sort of compensation will happen.

It's not insignificant at all but most think there is a massive difference in success between the two in Chicago.

World Series title:

Kenny Williams 2005, last for franchise 1917, 88 years.

Theo Epstein 2016, last for franchise 1908, 108 years.

Kenny never reached God like stature. Because of 20 years? No. Wasn't race. Theo is the BS-er flim-flam man who lawyer talks on important issues. Can't be cornered. Kenny is a no nonsense guy. He'll tell the truth people don't like. Has a temper.

The whole thread is WS titles are all that matters.

Kenny more successful than Veeck. Went to one world series with a team already in place when he purchased the Sox. He did bring us Disco Demolition night and baseball players in shorts.

If Theo got stay around for 11 years without sniffing the playoffs, I think at some point he could build a team again.

Few sources i still have @ the cubs told me Theo was livid that it was leaked last week that they were going to trade their star players like Baez.

I can see why - you lose leverage that way.

Interesting.

He’s definitely not a moron. I’m more intrigued to see how well he does his job over the next 2-3 years than I am about the team in general. Cuz the team in general is gonna suck.

How long they suck will be a reflection on how well he does.

He’s got his work cut out for him, no doubt.

does anybody have a subscription to ESPN+ or ESPN the Magazine or ESPN Insider or whatever it's called?

If so, can you copy and paste the following article in this thread? I really want to read it. Thanks.

Crazy Joe leaving, LaRussa's dui/hiring, now Theo's departure. All stew in a lack of truth. Theo says now's the best time to leave, not the end of the year. Possibly because of intense organizational conflict? It'll be a praise fest coming from him, Hoyer, and Ricketts. Everybody's a hero, and loved, but see ya. They feel they need to put on a dog and pony show to appease the ignorant masses, and save face post incident. I'll miss Larry, and Mullys near tears act when they ever discuss Theo though.

You can still hear Mully's near tears act whenever they discuss Tony LaRussa. You would have thought the White Sox hired Marge Schott as manager.
