The Amara character is interesting. The rapid aging of her in episode 2 was unexpected and creepy.

Yeah WZ, I thought they were really gonna go full fan fiction there for a second.

I don’t want to spoilt anything for Drebin, but that was def a meaningful episode last week.

Haven’t watched last night’s yet.

I want to see your list, but I’m being prompted to install a vpn protector that costs $9.99/week after a 3 day trial.

I sent an email request for access.

You should have access now.

Sorry this had to be so complex.

On FB I’ve been doing a daily countdown from 15 days ago, ending today of course with my #1.

Is this a show for nerds like Battlestar Galactica or a show with crossover appeal like Walking Dead?

It’s not battlestar galactica.

I haven’t seen enough Walking Dead to compare it to that.

Outstanding list WZ!!!

While reading it I was like, “Man I hope he talks about French Mistake,” then I saw where you had it ranked, and I was very happy.

I need to hurry up my rewatch (I’m in s12), so I can see Scoobynatural again.

You were right that episode really drives home, and satirizes so MANY great themes of Supernatural in a very effective way.

I had forgotten the emotional pull of “Abandon All Hope”.

“Time After Time” is just a really cool episode too.

The Loki character got a little over done towards the end of his run, but he was part of a few classic episodes like the one you have ranked. Also, I’m sure you know the actor has been directing a few episodes each season for a while.

Great stuff man.

Thanks for taking the time to make the list.

Ah, thank ya.

And it really WAS difficult picking, especially in the top 5 because there are so many great eps that I know I will revisit while we rewatch seasons and stuff and I’ll be like “Oh yeah...that one’s great too.”

But I think those that I chose really hit close to my heart and that’s why I made it clear it wasn’t a “Best” list in general. I think the show just has so much heart to it, it’s great to give the show credit for its best efforts.

For sure.

Different episodes resonate with different people for MANY reasons because of the sheer quantity and variety of content to choose from.

However, I think Scoobynatural and French Mistake should be on everyone’s list.

The finale sucked. I mean, the final season as a whole did too but still to me that seemed like an "ending" for the sake of having an ending. Honestly I think leaving it open ended like if the last episode was the finale woulda been a better send-off (especially in COVID world where the names that are mentioned are just that and everything goes down in exposition)

I don’t think it sucked but S15 definitely was up-and-down quality wise.

There were some great genuine moments in the finale but I admit there were some odd choices for it too. I was satisfied overall with it.

This thread has me seriously considering taking the plunge and beginning the series.

It seems like an ungodly amount of seasons and episodes though.

I’ll probably watch a handful of season one starting tonight at least

there are a lot of episodes that don't require knowing much backstory, so you don't *have* to start with the pilot. it helps understanding sam & dean a little better. but i'd recommend one of the more popularly picked "favorites" to start with, to see if you agree with the fandom.

I started at the beginning of season 4, and still haven’t seen every episode from seasons 1-3.

Don’t get me wrong there are MANY good episodes and character building in the first three seasons, but season 4 and then into season 5 implemented themes & characters that are pivotal to the show.

Try this one:

"Croatoan" S2 E9

Has to do with the lost colony of Roanoke.

Hmmm...Interesting.

So are these more or less serialized, self contained episodes then? For the first 3 seasons then?

There’s always a main narrative, but then there are monster of the week episodes mixed in to every season that divert from the main story.

The first season is very heavy on the Monster/Case of the Week formula, but as it rounds toward the end of season 1, the bigger arcs of the early season begin to take shape and are followed on. Kinda like Justified. But, I will say this - I recommend watching season 1 for the season finale alone as it ends on one of the greatest cliffhangers I've ever seen. It might not be as impactful now that we can stream right to the next season. But at the time, having to wait a year for it to pick back up had me begging for more.

And season 2 really shines early for what is possible in the shows canon. I've always encouraged people I recommend it to, to just hang with it through season 1 and 2 and you'll likely be hooked.
