Yes. Too many kids shows tell kids that things will be alright when that is a lie.

Well, I guess I do prefer Charlie Brown's nihilistic dystopian vision to the implied pedophilia of Curious George or the phallus-saturated fantasies of Sponge Bob Square Pants.

I do really enjoy just haw raw and unapologetic the old style cartoons were. Even Santa Claus was a jerk in them.

I'm going to donate $50 dollars and let you receive a tote bag and a squared kick in the nuts from Rick Steves.

I'm just waiting for Geoffrey Baer to finally run out of ideas and just fly a drone over my house for 90 minutes and reminisce about all the people that have been murdered there since the railroad arrived.

The drone special last night was pretty weak.

It might be a cool concept for a 10-15 segment that they extended into long enough to call it new content to sell me an overpriced tote bag in the name of the arts.

Plus, he'd covered a lot of those topics in other specials in more depth. He just gave the CliffsNotes with a few cool drone shots.

And, please remember in my critique, that I would not be sitting here in front of my computer complaining about them if it had not been for PBS. Big fan.

I was trying to remember why both of my tv's were tuned to channel 11 this morning. It was really forgettable.

I suppose they don't really need to label something new content to sell me a tote bag.

I think I'm still paying off the final installment payments for my Commemorative Laserdisc Box Set of Ken Burns' Civil War from its eighth rebroadcast in 1992.

I'm hoping Biden throws that debt in also if we are all in a forgiving mood.

Damn, you just reminded me that I never got the free training session at Degerburg (?) Martial arts school I drunkenly donated to get during a Wild Chicago marathon in 93-94. I think I may still have the t shirt.

police bike auction

The reporter was some frumpy hipster. They used to have some smoking hot correspondent who I think went on to bigger things in acting. I asked the frumpster why they didn't send the hot one.

Back in the mid-'90s, I had a connection to Mayor Daley's office and got front row tix in the Mayor's tent for the 4th of July fireworks. Fox32 did a live broadcast. Ol' Dr. Ken was half in the bag on the Chicago tax payer's (and I'm sure many local distributors) free booze.

Weatherman Steve Schill asked if I would do a 60-second interview and take a 4th of July quiz live on the air. I said "SURE". After I aced a few easy US History questions, Schill gave me my prize - here's how it went down -

Schill: Thanks for being with us. Here's a mug and the Declaration of Independence (a rolled up sheet in clear plastic).

Dr. Ken: Cool. Is this the real one? (I asked earnestly).

The question and my excited and serious tone caught Schill so off-guard he froze. He didn't say anything for about 3 seconds which is an eternity in TV time and then stammered out a "No" and quickly ended the live spot.

He was clearly pissed at me and left without saying thanks.
