Landmark status will give Ricketts over $100m in tax credits. I thought Ricketts fought the status originally because it would restrict what they could do to the park...now that the changes are done, they get the status and corresponding breaks?

You can define the parts that make it landmark worthy (well, the landmarking authority does). You still maintain full control over the items that are not noted.

If they were serious about it, the stadium and the rooftop buildings should have been included. Those rooftops have always been gaudy. They always looked like a money grab. I'm sure there is a way to make them contextual.

Landmarking is a double edged sword. The Cubs have pretty much eliminated real Wrigley and now it is some faux representation. Now it can never be torn down, even though it is just Disney's Wrigley Field World.

Agree. The park overall is no longer a landmark. It was a few years ago, but not now. The Ivy is one of the only true things left. Even the dugouts and bricks have been moved and changed.

That’s an odd take. Of course Wrigley is a landmark. It’s not just about physical features.

Some of you are seriously jaded.

What about the Wrigley rats? Nobody cares about them. I do.

Well of course not. Not literally.

But Wrigley is a historic ballpark that deserves its landmark status.

I'm a little surprised it's not a landmark already. That always causes issues though.

I haven't been to Wrigley since the reconstruction. Do they still have cold and soggy hot dogs?

No, just the team.
