Hub already out of the Experts panel of the Don'ttakemypicks.com

Frankly I was shocked to see him there in the first place.

Did someone really need to say something to him? The fact he did it in the first place makes me think he is really an idiot.

I'll bet he got some e mails and realized how stupid this looked for him. Pappy's site made the Trib yesterday so a lot of people saw it. Hub got ridiculed by some people. I'm sure of it.

Hey!!!! More money for Jen and Fred now. They get a bigger cut.

ub must have read the find print where it says "mike gets all the credit and 99.9% of the money. This clears the way for Bebe to take her rightful place in the panel of experts.

You can't be a tout and keep your pro football ties.
I am sure the league turns a cold shoulder to touts.
One of the saddest things I ever saw was Johnny Unitas
promoting a betting service. It is a shame what some
people will do for money.

Can this douchebag get anything right? He's got one expert on there that, in some people's eyes, could possibly give the site a sliver of credibility and, what, five days later, he's gone. Reminds me of when he posted that earth-shattering stuff that was going to prove him right and end Greenstein's career and a day later, it's taken down.

At least this answers my initial question as to how Hub could do this. Answer: He couldn't.

I say Jen's out on Michigan Avenue right now buying some expensive clothes and stuff in anticipation of her bigger cut.

I could not believe Hub associated himself with the site in the manner he did.

While many times I might not have agreed with Hub on his opinions, I really never chalked one up for Hub in the dumb category until now.

He had to think twice about this before he did it. Didn't he? and how and why did he say "OK"

Unless of course Hub gave a soft committment (ie "Hey Hub, I'm thinking of doing a football site, care to be a part of it," "Sure Mike, whatever") and then saw what it was, then backed off.

Or, knowing how "The Mike" works, he could of put Hub up on the site, Hub got POed about it, and "The Mike" had to change plans.

Wouldn't be the first time since leaving WSCR that he's done that now, is it?

How different is it that Hub was part of this web site from his weekly job of making football picks (against the spread) on Pro Football Weekly, other than getting a cut of a $99 fee?

For the record, I don't really give a rat's ass if you guys go off on Mike's every move. I read a lot of it and some of it is damn funny, some of it is over the top.

But - go nuts.

I also was just having some fun with it and if you don't see that this is prime stuff for satire then you aren't reading that closely.

I find Hub leaving the site very amusing as well.

As a North fan I found it to be a unique phenomenon as well. However, thinking about it a little, the same thing happened with Salisbury and I really had no problem participating.

Dr. Ken,

You're cool in my book and I am honestly sorry that you thought I was directing that at you, as I wasn't. Your thread is hilarious. Its the user's who feel compelled to be insulting to those using the board for amusement and being funny. We might not all find each others stuff funny, there there are some who think if they don't find it funny, then there's no point in it being posted.

I think Hub is reading this site and saw that thread and was like wtf did i get myself into. Especially the comment in the thread talking about him meeting the NFL commish and how bad it would look to know he was associated with a gambling site.

Excellent point H-you. Imagine if the season did start, he did have a conversation with the commish about anything, then goes 4 for 4 the following weekend; accurate to the point spread. There would be cries of foul play so fast his head would swim.

I think Hub has already tarnished himself by ever being associated with dontfademe. At this point I'm sure he is just hoping that it was such a fleeting association that no one will ever remember. But, as with anything on the internet, it is permanent and out there forever. Someone has an archived screenshot or whatever. There are no secrets anymore.

So the site now consists of an update guy(who apparently didn't quit as North first claimed), a 26 year blond with a rolodex, a comic book character and The Mike. Yep, that is a sports handicapping gold mine.
I'd love to meet the people stupid enough to pay for this "service".

The commish is one thing; Hub's writers have inside tracks with the teams under the proviso that he's writing articles. How many gambling insiders are invited to attend Bear press conferences/cover team practices?

Makes sense. I imagine it would have been very hard for Hub (now positioned as a "winning" pro-handicapper) to get calls from The Commish at home while he's sipping a cocktail on his backporch. Considering the current climate with objectivity in, and the scrutiny of pro-sports (roids, players in all kinds of trouble, connected refs and such) football focused reporter/editror's association with "The Mike" would have raised eyebrows.

My guy told my that Mike called Hub, explained it in a way where it didnt come off as a betting service. Hub didnt hear back from Mike and from what I understand, did not know he was on the site until sometime Friday. Not a happy Hub as from what I understand.

You know what, Rodeo? When I saw Hub on the site initially I thought maybe Pappy did it without askining or mislead him like you suggested. That would be something Pappy would do.

Pappy - Hey ya Hub, I'm doin' a web site. Hey Hub, can I'ze use you? Will you endorse it? You love dogs right?

Hub - So the web site is about saving dogs?

Pappy - Kinda.

Hub - Sure Pappy.

...3 days later Hub goes to the site after seeing the address in the Trib. He calls Pappy

Hub - What the fuck, Pappy?

Pappy - What? I said it was about saving dogs. I never play favorites. I asked if you like dogs. Dis was just a misunderstanding.

You know what's funny and goes right to Pappy's credibility with this site? Not that he had any to start with but after his first day he wrote "Hub, Fred and Jen were involved with these picks."

Clearly, since we know Hub quit the site in 4 days, he wasn't involved in anything. What a fuckin joke Pappy is. So Pappy just lied right there.

Just another point. If people really do respect Hub they wouldn't pay for his picks. He picks every game on the PFW TV show and those picks are on his PFW website. For Free!!!!. Plus, Hub sucks at picking games.

No problem, Frontman. Rereading it, I come off more dick-ish than I meant to - probably due to the Spotted Cow that I was about 8 bottles into.

You know who else is a dick? Mike North!! What a pudwhacker!!

I know for sure that it was presented to Hub in a much different format then what it was. Even though my guy is a score employee (not on air) I did think how could he present it were it didnt come off as a betting site, but maybe Hub is just a dope and didnt realize it.

We are able to hear Hub, on local radio, in Chicago. We know he's kind of a weezle. It's possible he agreed, knowing what it was, then got embarrased and backed out.

Anyway, Hub is respected around the country as a good football man. Any notion, by Pappy, of this site getting big around the country is gone without a guy like Hub.

Pappy is left with his 2 experts - Fred and Jen (My God). Nobody knows who the fuck these idiots are outside of Chicago. You don't get any respect from gamblers after reading their bios.

In Chicago, we know who these two goofs are. That works against the site. Pappy doesn't realize that. Jen hurts the site. No gambler wants to see a little girly giving them picks. Picks they have to pay for no less. We've heard Fred on the radio. Everybody know he's a dope. We know what Pappy is. Nobody is gonna buy this site when your experts are Jen Jen and Fred. Christ, Jen got top billing over Hub when Hub was a part of this for 3 days.

You forgot the "Bookie Preist".

Like I said, this is going to last one NFL season and he will be done. I do however hear he might be buying some time at a radio station for a Sunday morning gig to spew his picks.
