Back in the mid-'90s, I had a connection to Mayor Daley's office and got front row tix in the Mayor's tent for the 4th of July fireworks. Fox32 did a live broadcast. Ol' Dr. Ken was half in the bag on the Chicago tax payer's (and I'm sure many local distributors) free booze.

Weatherman Steve Schill asked if I would do a 60-second interview and take a 4th of July quiz live on the air. I said "SURE". After I aced a few easy US History questions, Schill gave me my prize - here's how it went down -

Schill: Thanks for being with us. Here's a mug and the Declaration of Independence (a rolled up sheet in clear plastic).

Dr. Ken: Cool. Is this the real one? (I asked earnestly).

The question and my excited and serious tone caught Schill so off-guard he froze. He didn't say anything for about 3 seconds which is an eternity in TV time and then stammered out a "No" and quickly ended the live spot.

He was clearly pissed at me and left without saying thanks.
