I didn't like that Mazara acquisition from Day 1, even if Steele never makes it with the Rangers. I don't think we got an accurate representation of his abilities though, after being injured and having Covid just before the start of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a nice bounce back season for someone. His defense was better than I thought it would be. I wouldn't hate it if the Sox signed him to a low offer for a year. He just wasn't worth his arbitration value.

I want an outside of the organization option, but if Engel is starting in RF, I wouldn't be too upset either. Imagine how much ground Robert can cover if he shades left because Engel is to his right.

Rodon was a flat out disappointment, even without the injuries. He had stretches of dominance, so the talent was definitely there. I don't think he had the devotion to fitness he needed and it seems like the injuries may have robbed him of ever getting back to what he was. Even if he got there, he still had a lot of development work to do with his accuracy. He was always problematic as if he ended up good, his agent would have taken him to free agency anyway. Someone will take a flyer on him and maybe it hits. I think he will always be hurt

I could live with that as well if it meant they spent on pitching. I'd love to get a starter good enough to move Keuchel to #3 and they have to find a closer like Brad Hand

Rodon will be very good in the pen, his stuff is sick. Nust got to limit him to 35 or 40 innings a year.

Easy decision IMO.. Put him in right and bat him 9th, that would be the best defensive outfield in mlb ( even with Eloy in LF)

he has lots of trouble with control and still only considers himself a starter

Id be thinking him and his agent are having a long talk today about his future..nobody gonna pay this guy to sit on the DL all year..the pen is his last chance at salvaging a career.

Teams (especially the Cubs) give out those kinds of contracts all the time.

He won't be on the the DL anyway. He was on the Sox playoff roster so he is ready. I think he will just be perpetually hurt and he is definitely the show horse type who doesn't pitch through pain. His wife was angrily tweeting when Ricky brought him in relief at the end of the year.

Colome was something like 47/50 in saves for the Sox. Resigning him to a 2 year deal wouldn't be a bad thing.

The Sox could do a lot worse than Engel in RF. If they can get it proven guy like Springer, then it's a no-brainer move. If it's somebody who is only marginally better at the plate than Engel, I would just roll with Engel then as your everyday right fielder.

Give this fat fuck time. Say the Rangers or Pirates sign him...he'll be hurt by June.

I'm all for a platoon as Engel has been great against LHP the last two years. Find me a right side of the platoon and we are good to go in RF. I've seen Joc Pederson thrown around as a good fit. He hit 36 HR against RHP in 2019 and 121 in 682 games in his career against them. He also has a career .349 OBP against RHP and will still only be 29 next year. His D is only average but he has played all three OF positions (obviously he will never play CF for the Sox with Robert, Engel and Garcia).
