Is "rebuilding" the right word?

Every team was great at some point.

Unless you’re the Lions.

The last time the bears had a good offense I couldn't grow a beard. Or have it come in snow white like now.

Yeah it’s been real bad my whole life.

I know we've discussed this but I don't know if rebuilding is actually a thing in the NFL. If things you go right you can find yourself contending randomly. Strength of schedule, injuries to other contending teams, lucky wins that later on get reinterpreted as great, close wins, etc. I don't get the idea of gutting the Bears. It's not needed. Up until two weeks ago, they were a good defense with an atrocious offense. Fix the offense and tread water on defense. Maybe you can be the Buffalo Bills or Cleveland Browns of 2021.

Honestly, no shit.

Everyone in this thread is discussing rebuilding the offense.

What’s your point?

Not really. Others have suggested you need to rebuild the entire team.

Cool.

Great point to argue about.

Anything else?

Even the second greatest running back ever in Walter Payton couldn't will this team to more than a game over .500 until he got four very good to legendary offensive linemen (Van Horne, Hilgenberg, Covert, Bortz in order of when they became starters) and an above average quarterback.

This team has zero offensive linemen nor a quarterback who can sniff being in the top third of the league at their position.

Next year is a rebuild with a new GM and new coach. Draft offensive linemen, sign Jameis to a one year deal to make the games fun bad, go 5-11 or 4-12 and then draft a QB with a pick in the 4-7 range.

Probably need to trade Mack as well. Maybe even Hicks. They won't be good by the time this team might compete in 2023.

Pace took his shots after having Fox foisted on him. He whiffed on QB, he whiffed on HC, he did ok on Mack but it wasn't enough. Now there is two years of rebuilding to regroup.

I love this. 2021 draft is all offensive lineman. Winston works at QB, hell even Blake Bortles. Find the QB of the future in 2022 when he won’t get killed behind a shitbag OL.

Yes Dillon Gabriel should be the sole focus of the Bears in 2022.

I love the fact so MANY are realizing the correct plan for the future of the BEARS.

Get the quarterback and everything else falls into place. Look at how much better the OL has been even with the upgrade of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky over Foles. We suddenly could run the ball for over 100 yards a game consistently. They need multiple OL picks in this upcoming draft but if ANY quarterback with a first round grade is available at their pick then you take them. Mahomes was the 10th pick overall. It's mostly luck. Get the "next guy" and cross your fingers for three years.
