I think it's a little bit more than that. The ability to create and harness energy at the level needed for reliable interstellar travel is almost incomprehensible to us. I think there has to be some kind of passive phasing out of warlike species as they move up the ladder in their ability to harness energy, like a natural selection nexus, through which survive only the species that can harness that amount of energy without killing one another and, at those levels, their entire ecosystems, planets, etc.

I also think that, as Joe Rogan and many have said, aliens, and "interstellar space travel", for that matter, may exist in an inter-dimensional sense, which suggestion would explain away the limits of "physics" that we now are handcuffed by when it comes to space travel.

There are hard rumors of DMT being used to channel these dimensions, and "explorers" being sent over to the dimensions using said methods.

I think that civilizations that develop the crazy technology to undertake interstellar travel, however, will have to get there, in some part, by greed and a lust for power and notoriety. That stuff, for better or worse, drives a lot of innovation. But if the beings reach some new plateau, maybe their brains change. That would be interesting, due to the brutal nature of evolution.

Most likely? They send robots to do it. Like, they'll put an object in a remote location for a few days to collect data. Then they'll put the object in another location around the globe. You watch; it will happen.

You make a giant assumption in your word salad. Why would energy be the key to interstellar travel? Maybe it's just knowledge and use of the extra dimensions. In which case, the phasing out of the war like species falls completely apart. The better assumption is natural selection is universal and it does what it does.

Let's assume that's true, that the key is manipulating Calabi-Yau manifolds, or wherever we think those extra dimensions are hiding now. We know that it takes a ton of energy masquerading as mass to manipulate, and even then only subtly, the four dimensions we can directly observe, so why would manipulating those extra dimensions be any different? Even our one-way "manipulation" of time requires attaining relativistic speeds, which requires a metric butt-ton of? Energy.
