Had no idea he was still with us. He was seemingly advanced middle age when i was a kid in the 70s. Helluva run for what seemed like a nice guy.

I never realized just how out of this universe talented guys like him, Glenn Campbell, Buck Owens , and Jerry Reed were until my adult years when I struggled to learn 3 fucking chords on a guitar. When I was a kid, these guys were just a bunch of hillbillies on TV playing stupid music that I hated. I think its been posted here before but this clip of Roy Clark from the Odd Couple playing guitar is nothing short of fucking brilliance. I don't think Tony Randall's or Jack Klugman's reaction at the end was acting either.

There's a touch of Benny Hill mannerisms there.

I think you mean the other clip, but yes ... I imagine one would need all the stability (and maybe coke) they could find.

He is best known for having hosted Hee Haw, a nationally televised country variety show, from 1969 to 1997.

It was on the air THAT long ??? I thought that show died long ago ... like maybe mid-80s at best.

I think I was on to something with the 'Benny Hill' observation above ..... actually, kinda looks like Frank in drag.

The Hawg Family would gather around the TV on a Saturday night to watch Hee Haw. :(

I remember him from the commercials on the old CH 32 selling his books and tapes for learning how to play guitar.
