His first couple years he ended up with a ranked team but then kinda fell apart in conference. Was something like 25-23 in the sec. That won’t fly at A&M with the boosters.

He was better out of conference so his overall record looked better but only ended the season ranked twice. His first season was only one with a winning record in conference so yeah.

Summy was 35-17 at UH. He probably could have coached here for life making 3 mil a year and regularly TKOing top 10 Power Five teams.

Arizona got fucking killed. I can’t help but think Sumlin had to look around and wondered why he left.

Sumlin had a winning record every year and held his own in the SEC West meat grinder. He was perfectly fine there.

A&M fans are the least realistic fans in the world. They haven’t been nationally significant for any period of time since about 1950, yet the fan base thinks they are the top program in the country.

I would rather have my kids drop out of high school than attend A&M.

Nebraska fans will give them a run for their money. The lack of ranking after his second year doomed him regardless of an overall 66% winning percentage. Right or wrong, A&M thinks more highly of themselves as you mentioned.

And yes, should of stayed at Houston in retrospect but I’m sure his bank account is a little fatter for his time since leaving.

Another 9 million if they don’t retain any assistants. I get it, boosters pay for it and all but man... misplaced priorities I suppose and if I spent more time thinking about it I’d probably spend less time consuming it.

I have always held that having more good teams is always better than having the same great three teams know they will be in the championship every year. That holds for national as well as conference.

That’s why IMO it makes way too much sense to open the playoff to eight teams.

This gets the second tier of very good to great teams more exposure, and will inevitably help recruiting.

Which will lead to better competition overall.
