Fucking do something already.

Jerry Reinsdorf is literally the only owner who didn't just buy the team this offseason who has made any moves to add pieces. I'm happy he has, but what the fuck does that say about the rest of MLB?

The Sox payroll is currently less than last season.

2020: 131
2021: 108 so far

Brewers have said their payroll is coming down based on lost ticket and concession revenue from last year.

Not doubting those numbers, but which contracts dropped off the books from last year? Can't really think of many.

Nobody is spending it seems in the NL Central. If the Reds don't win this division in 2021 by 10 games then there is something seriously wrong in that organization.

Don't think it factors is club options that haven't been picked up yet or arb numbers either.

Edwin and Colome come to mind, but Sox probably are signing another closer.

Giolito is also not counted in there as his arbitration number is not yet determined.

By that methodology the Cubs went from 216 to 93 million.

It would be such a great time for Reinsdorf to become Winthorp and Billy Ray, just buying up the artificially deflated assets on the cheap.

owners now saying spring training is likely to start late and the season will be shortened

how can the covid excuse fly when every other league is moving on?

No money for Bauer and Springer. But lets hear some more about how cheap the Ricketts are.

What does the Cubs payroll have to do with your White Sox going cheap when MANY think they competing for a World Series?

The Cubs are in a completely different place with their team. They signed Lester at the same point the White Sox are currently.

Baseball has always been a little dumber than the rest of the leagues.

Ask conns, he's the Sox expert.

The Sox are a year early.

Frank, do you not agree that Bauer and Springer get the White Sox to the ALCS and their best shot at a World Series?

If I was a Sox fan, I would want my team to sign the best player on the market when they are so close to a championship.

No such thing as a year early when your major prospects are playing at the MLB level and your ace is pitching like a Cy Young candidate.

Take the Cubs as an example. Bryant, Baez, Rizzo all shit after 2016. MANY had the prime years 2016-CURRENT.

Baseball has always been a little dumber than the rest of the leagues.

Nothing was ever dumber than when the NHL hired Gary Bettman to play hardball on a new CBA with the players' union and their old-Ontario-money lawyers. He was so unpleasant to work with that the league shut down in the wake of New York winning the Stanley Cup and nothing got done until the richest owners stepped in, fucked over the poor owners, and set the league on a wayward path they've never really come off to this day.

Owners want the players to have the least amount of money saved possible for the impending 2021 lockout.
