And I should add: Spiral's not wrong to point this out. Even the "median" income garnered by MANY Americans, on top of MANY misunderstanding the metric, puts them in a perilous financial position where they are unable to absorb any level of catastrophe, despite a full-time commitment to employment. Seems to me that if you work 40 hours or so a week, you should be able to build up some financial cushion.

Agreed. Many on here think they don't deserve to even feed, clothe, and shelter themselves working full time.
