I’d watch Baja but cbs doesn’t come in on the antennae on the house tv so I’m a Cinci game watcher tonight.

If the Gators had a defense they’d be unbeatable, but it was a fun season nonetheless.

A good, not great, team.

Just like all but 2 teams in college football.

That's fair.

My main point was there's 2 top teams and then everyone else below that.

If they don’t go to 8 teams soon I may have to give up on college football.

This is very boring and redundant every year.

It’s not about putting in the most deserving 4 teams.

It’s about greed.

Fuck the NCAA.

They got the 4 most deserving teams in.

Not sure what else you can ask for.

If they went to 8, you'd be stuck with two more SEC teams, Oklahoma and maybe Cincinnati. That's not an improvement in my book.

And fwiw, I have no use for the NCAA either.

and people would still be upset that they did not get the best 8 teams.

Roll damn tide is all I’ll say. At least in the semi finals.

I’d go with 8 as well. I’d rather leave out a team that can make claim to ending the 6th-9th best team than a team that can legitimately claim to be the 4th.

Line opened at 19.5 for bama. After last night, that seems achievable by the end of the 1Q.

In response to RR and RFDC:

If a team can compete in the playoffs then they can compete for 5 star recruits.

Expanding the playoffs to 8 teams will inevitably peel away 5 star recruits from Bama, Clemson, and OSU.

I bet my life on this scenario playing out if the playoffs are expanded.

We need better competition at the top.

Hammered Squirrel made a good point about having to leave out the 6th-9th best team rather than the 4th best team.

We as sports fans are always going to b1tch about something, but the cries wouldn’t be as loud if we’re arguing about the 8th or 9th best team as opposed to the 4th or 5th.

Also, if we are concerned about too MANY SEC teams then let’s cap conference entries at 3.

I’m sure that also makes too much sense for the playoff committee.

Or if the committee won’t cap conference entries then let’s cap the revenue each conference can receive for playing in these games.

Money is the only language that matters to the ncaa anyway.

Honestly, I’m tired of Clemson, bama, Buckeyes and random team. I’d actually limit at 2 teams max per conference.

I’m good with that as it would without a doubt allow the best group 5 schools a way into the playoffs.

I’ve enjoyed Clemson’s rise to the top, but now it’s just not fun anymore.

Just redundant like Alabama.

My only problem with that sounds just like the rationale behind capping scholarships at 85 many years ago.

The entire system was corrupted 50 or 60 years ago. The ridiculous money today at the power 5 schools ensures no change.

Pay players, have some type of cap.

Rich will still be rich, but it’s the only way to incentivize top tier talent away from a handful of schools.

12 teams. All power 5 get conference champ. Highest rated conference champ of other groups gets in. 6 at large. First two rounds are hosted by home schools. It would be great.

If words mean something they really haven’t competed in any meaningful way.

I strongly believe the power 5 schools that are all represented on the playoff committee do not want to expand the playoff to 8 teams solely because they don’t want to share the $$$ with the group of 5 schools.

They don’t want any group of 5 school to have extra revenue to improve facilities, and help with recruiting.

They don’t want more group of 5 teams that can knock off their power 5 programs year after year.

It’s a joke.

Plausible, though I have no doubt those extra 4 spots would go to power 5 teams (or ND) 99% of the time.

When Penn State joined the B1G that sealed the fate of the game. It's only about the money. $40MM locker rooms and 2020 proved it. Again.

Sure, but there are much better odds for a group of 5 school with 8 teams than 4.

The committee made it perfectly clear this year that no group of 5 school will get into a 4 team playoff.

Just go back to no playoffs and just big bowl games. The playoffs haven’t made college football any better than it was in the 80s. College basketball can keep the Cinderella stories. College football is about powerhouses.
