It’s a lot harder to see than Hale bopp but at 10 it is well above horizon out here. The averted vision is the key.

Crystal clear skies out here tonight. Not as easy to see as last weekend but still viewable. Look in the binoculars and it was amazing.

Drive out an hour or so on I-80. We drove just past Starved Rock, but you don't need to go that far. Looks cool with good binoculars.

You can see it with the naked eye, as the Inebriated Rodent said, with averted vision.

I tried to find it last night, but I think there is too much light pollution near my house for me to see it.

Anyone going to see that Christmas* star? I saw the comet and the last meteor shower, so I am hoping to continue my hot streak. Supposed to be a good view of Jupiter and Saturn, too.

It should be pretty cool. The skies have been good to people for a few years now, what with the eclipse, the shooting star shows, that one green-ish star a few years ago, Mars being close, and that cool comet. We went out in your direction to see the comet, but we'll probably just drive down 57 past Kankakee for this one. Pray for clear skies.

I'm going to drive out into the country about a half hour after sunset to take a look. Hopefully the scattered clouds go away.

Jupiter and Saturn have been in the southern sky all year. Mars is in western sky. At any given moment at night, you can see from west to south, Mars, the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter.

Pretty cool. You'll be able to see it tomorrow. Had to drive way down 57 to escape the cloud cover to see it.

I thought the planets would just sort of join together, but they didn't really do that. However, with good binoculars, you could sorta--sorta--see Saturn's rings. Makes me want to get an even better pair of binoculars...but I think the next upgrade is a few hundred dollars.

Some local farmer set his dawgs on us. Or it appeared so. We got back into the car and drove a mile away.

I saw Saturn's rings up in Door County through a sweet telescope that Darkside has.

Looks like Doug chills with everybody on this board. I probably grew up five minutes away from him.

That's cool. My dad had a decent telescope and I saw the rings maybe 12 years ago or so. Caught a glimpse of them for maybe 15 seconds. I turned around and bumped the telescope and couldn't find it again.
