Yeah, I was wondering about that possibility also.

My only thought is these people have no clue who the Joker is and how his mind works and that thought never would have come up. But I suppose with 100 people on each boat some MattInTheCrown would have brought it up still.

Well it didn't live up to the hype for me. Not a whole lot to add to what has already been mentioned.

-Too many times a character stares off into space and recites some "thoughtful" dialogue about good and evil.
-Way too easy to get Dent's police escort to divert to lower Wacker.
-For someone who admitted he doesn't follow a plan, the Joker sure took a lot of time to wire a lot of explosives.
-Dent's (mental) transformation happened WAY too quickly and his "motivation" was thin at best.
-In the first one, Batman says he won't kill Ducard (Had to look that one up), but he doesn't have to save him either. So why does he save the Joker?
-The ending was lame.

While true, I think it would have been a distraction from the point of the scene if it was mentioned. If the passengers were afraid to push the button for fear of their own safety, it would have neutralized or even eliminated the moral dilemma that was being posed.

I loved the film, but I can't really argue with any of those points. I guess they just didn't detract from the film as much for me. But certainly the plot does requires quite a bit of suspension of disbelief; all throughout there are plot points that are implausible at best. But what I cared about most was how the film expressed its themes visually, moreso than verbally as most movies try to do.

I agree I wish there was a more satisfactory ending. And leaving the Joker hanging there wasn't enough. Maybe it fits the theme more that he was brought to justice rather than killed, but it felt like there needed to be a bigger payoff, at least of some sort.

One last thing that bugged me and I'll let it go.

I didn't like the fact that the Joker applied his make-up. I don't know how true that is to the original comic, but it took away from the character for me. He consciously applied make-up before leaving his lair. For whatever reason, it makes him a weaker character in my book.

Thanks for letting us know that you're SO over this movie.

You could probably, I don't know, not click on it if it bothers you so much?

And if you would, go post that same thought in the unofficial North section.

Heath Ledger's a star on the rise. I'm picturing what his Oscar acceptance speech will be like.

So did Michail Jai White's character die from getting his cheek cut? The last thing they showed was Joker putting the knife in his mouth, then you hear the slicing sound and the guy is on the floor.

What gives?

I haven't either. I'm not a movie buff. Unless I'm taking my son to see a Pixar animated movie, I really don't go.
