Just stop rewarding the same mediocre teams. It was the same problem in the the bowl era of reputation eclipsing accomplishment. I mean, I could watch the “5th-8th” teams get completely outclassed instead of crap big 12 or notre dame team over and over again. Or big 10 team for that matter.

8 teams = more chances Clemson or Alabama could have a bad game.

I just don’t see any scenario where the clown ass playoff football committee keeps Notre Dame or Ohio State out of the CFP if they have even a 1 loss season.

If you aren’t going to come down on Lord Saban and his program with massive recruiting violations then you have to create ways for other teams to get enough exposure where they can pull some of those 5 stars away from the top 2 or 3 teams in college football.

Everybody that goes to Alabama and Clemson would still go to Alabama and Crimson if they get the offer because they’re the best 2 teams. When every conference got their own network and every decent game landed on TV, that was supposed to even the playing field, it didn’t. 4 more teams, 2 or 3 of them probably getting thoroughly embarrassed by Alabama and Clemson on national TV, isn’t going to move the meters. All they can do is reduce scholarships to spread it out.
