He gave up 2 runs, 1 BB, and 5 hits in 2 innings in the game he started in NY. He struck out 2 in 2 innings in the game in KC. I mean, it's a nice story and all, but there's a credibility factor, so the whole knocking down guys multiple times and Mickey Mantle even knowing who this 6 ERA schlub is, is pretty questionable.

spring/summer of 1978, buying topps baseball cards and i had a few dozen of topps' 1978 dodgers team card...la sorda sitting with his arms folded. he was part of a fantastic franchise, i think they had 2 managers over a 40+ year span.

bevaqua was baseball's bubble-gum blowing champion..i have or had that baseball card. a big bubble and a scissors type ruler to measure the bubble. i'm guessing he had bits of gum in his moustache up until 1983.
