He absolutely gets in the Hall of Fame before the likes of Paddford, Eli and Rivers.

His first six years he didn't get to play in the nfl. Guess they didn't like his pigmentation until 1984. He stockpiled a lot of wins championships and stats before the oilers wisened up.
He belongs in the house more than freaking eli and rivers.

The answer is Warren Moon at #1 and it's not even close. Fine with Rivers at a distant 2nd.

Warren Moon seems to be a better option than Rivers.

I was surprised they played pretty close to the same amount of games.

as a kid, liked the baltimore colts with bert jones as qb. excellent qb with a gun arm.

played in an impossible conference of shula's dolphins, noll's steelers and madden's raiders to ever make the super bowl and represent the afc.

Bert Jones is an under appreciated QB. But injuries got him as well iirc.

In the same way that Rivers is. Both were good but not great QBs. Neither has a legitimate HOF case.

If he played in Green Bay you'd have a candlelit shrine to him on your mantle.

Who said otherwise?

We were answering the question of best QB to not play in a SB.

FF is just mad because he can't name a Packers quarterback who was good who never made a Super Bowl.

yes, that's what i remember.

lydell mitchell, don mccauley, raymond chester...roger carr. had their football cards. always enjoyed the nbc afc playoff broadcasts with curt gowdy or dick enberg. the colts had a sharp uniform and memorial stadium in baltimore was a cozy stadium to watch football on tv.

just too much better competition in that conference at different stages of 1970s.

We have legitimate HOF QBs in Green Bay. Perhaps you were thinking of Chicago

 I'm aware of what the topic of the thread is. It's sort of hard to misunderstand. I gave you my reasoning for why I think Moon is overrated. There's not much difference between him and Rivers.

You said we were overrating him. Yet no one here overrated him. So your statements seem odd.

Moon didn't break into the league until age 28?

That's a high % of picks. Maybe QB's threw more interceptions back then? Or dbacks were
better at hanging onto the ball when (mis)thrown their way:

Era-related stats are quite stunning sometimes. I remember Terry Bradshaw being unbelievable when I was a kid. If you look at his or Kenny Stabler's stats, it's hard to believe they became HOF's. One of the names that I thought of when I read this thread was Archie Manning. My god was I wrong :puker: The only guys from back then that were statistically as good as I rememebr were Trakenton and Staubach (although nobody had a great completion %).

Yup.

Young Furious listened to the epic OAK/BAL1977 playoff game on the AM radio on the way home from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

As long as Bob Griese and Joe Namath are in, the bar is pretty low as far as being a HOF worthy QB. They weren't HOF-caliber players even by the standard of their era.

Eli Manning is counting on it!

That's true and it is true for many of the players these days in all leagues that get HOF consideration. I have always thought the HOF should be more exclusive, but based on precedent it is hard to say any of these guys don't belong.

This isn't about HOF or being overrated.
The best NFL QB to never play in a Super Bowl is Warren Fucking Moon. /Thread.

Btw.. Stafford is very quickly moving from the ranks of most underrated to most overrated at an alarming pace
