pappy's crappy brought up an excellent point in another thread, why would notre dame have north associated with their school when he is running a sports betting website ? may have to go to norths website and ask him how the school feels about it.

Even a modest donation will make the school administrators look the other way.

Well, not only is he running it, he's got a cigar-chomping, shades-wearing, mock priest giving tips.

I think RodeoVann should send a signed letter to the school informing them of dontfademe and the Bookie Priest and ask for North's dismissal. Then we can get the threat of a lawsuit going and . . . oh, wait, we've seen this movie before, haven't we?

I'm under the assumption that Notre Dame is a Catholic HS? Where I live, the Catholic schools and churches host bingo, Texas Hold 'em and other gambling type activities. There's one high school that even hosts a big party after the final home football game (at least 4 kegs in the school cafeteria for parents and alumni). I'm not so sure that the gambling site will be much of a concern for Notre Dame. Furthermore, I think it's way over the top to go after his job as an assistant basketball coach by reporting this to the school. Some people need to get a life. If they haven't been bothered by some the sexual remarks and racial connotations on his show, I doubt if they care about his gambling site.

I did assign Rodeo as the "Official" North watch dog last week.

Or at least if felt like last week when I did it.

and Mr. Bel, I just checked it out, Fred and his purple suit are still there ..."STAY CLASSY SAN DIEGO"

I am surpirsed The Score lets Fred do this shit with North. While they might not be able to contractually stop him, I would guess one hint to Fred and he would cut ties in a second, as I have a feeling his paycheck on this is not so big?

I gotta say that I agree with the ghost of t-dub on this one...it's one thing to say
that North was a terrible talk show host and also a racist and a sexist.

But to go after a man's coaching job...thats just wrong.

Im sure there are things in our personal life that we wouldnt want our bosses to find out.

I have never have understood why people on this board have a stiffy when it come to Mike North

A few things, just for the record:

I don't have children and I don't belong to any organized religion. So, on a purely PERSONAL level I don't care what Notre Dame High School does in regards to filling an asst. BB coach position. Since a large function of this board would seem to be to use humor, satire, irony, etc. to have a good time discussing sports radio, I just brought up what I thought was a little irony. And I wasn't so much commenting specifically on the gambling nature of North's website but rather the irony that a Catholic institution, with priests and their image a bit under fire lately for some of their . . . um, extracurricular activities, would have a somewhat high-profile coach (well, not quite as high-profile since he lost his radio gig) using the image of a cigar-chomping priest giving betting tips.

As far as the gambling goes, though, I must add that I don't think North's venture is comparable to a Vegas night at a church or school where kids' parents or other church members play Bingo or poker and the proceeds go to charity or to the institution.

Neither I nor anyone I know of is sending any letter to the school. It was a JOKE referring to a past letter-sending incident on the board that perhaps many of our newer members don't remember. If the administration and parents at ND have no problem with North, I am NOT about to embark on nor encourage some sort of campaign to remove him. Believe me, that's not my agenda. Furthermore, even if the school DID take action, I think it's a volunteer position, so no food is being taken off of Mike and BeBe's (and Jen's) table.

I still think North is an arrogant, ignorant gasbag and had a bad radio show and I'm glad he's off the Score. Once that happened, I didn't have much to say about him for quite some time. However, with his new website he's thrust himself back into the public eye again and so far, this is one of the most ill-conceived, badly put-together ventures of its kind that I've seen and I'm enjoying immensely many of the hilarious posts here about it.

Great view PC. I wonder what North sounds like as a coach

In fact, one may argue that in Matthew's Parable of Faithful Servant, the faithful servant made bets using Bookie Priest's picks and the servant who lost money used "dem udder guys picks."

I don't know about Matthew, but according to Buffone 3:16, "He who gambles lives in shambles."

I sure wouldn't worry about letting the school know they look stupid for having some dumbass "bookie priest" for an assistant coach. They should be embarrassed to have this a-hole associated with them.

Assuming the mike reads this or has it read to him:

Hey The Mike, I'm thinking of letting them know what a douchebag they have coaching the kids at their school. It's going to cost you a very big donation to keep the gig. Kiss my fat white ass you POS. feel free to call your scum lawyer friends, it won't bother me, I can afford my own lawyer.
I also heard that your "vast" real estate holdings are in trouble, worth less than you have in them, good move douchebag. I also heard that after you called one of your bosses a "c-sucker" the word got around and no one will touch you, so much for all those offers you had.
You are a complete joke in the city now, go begging you stupid limp prick.

He really should not be involved with kids in anyway with a sports gambling business in operation. I am sure ND HS is aware of this and hopefully he has already been let go of his coaching duties. If ND HS is aware of this and keeps him on they are pretty pathetic. I played HS sports and looked up to each of my coaches as all us kids did. HS coaches have a big influence on their kids and having a boob running a gambling site while coaching them is not too good in this father's opinion.

Mike can run this site if he wants and still coach.

If he was telling the kids they should sign up for it while coaching, that's a different story.......

I might not like the guy, and as others have pointed out; the Catholic Church does its fair share of promoting gambling (raffles, bingo, "Vegas" nights, trips to the Riverboats.....)

Now, do I think North should have any influence on children? That's an entirely different story all together. No, I do not. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think his "rags to riches" story is one of hard work and determination. He was talking sports when a head of CBS radio went to get a hot dog. That's more of a "right place/right time" story than a guy who was a hot dog vendor who had a dream of getting into radio; worked overnights interning, then worked his way into radio.

North is like Danny Bonaduce. Someone took a chance on both of them. Danny keeps getting shots at radio, but keeps on falling victim to the "inner demon" phenomenon.

F North. He never cared about the people and the families he ripped. maybe BeBe will have to walk the streets for $$ to pay for his crap.

I JUST DON'T CARE. I wouldn't mind to find out that he becomes destitute and they need a fundraiser for the prick. It might raise $3.

The site while legal is probably considered unethical by some. Thus I would think that anyone who might be affiliated with a larger more influential group that might frown on this, would not do such a thing?

Hub-------> NFL
Fred-------> Whatever the initials are for this Soccer League he likes and The Station works for?
Mike-------> IHSA? Notre Dame High School? PAWS?
Jen--------> Uhm

Got a feeling that is over as well.
Wonder if all the media credentials have been pulled? or how that is done?

I guess this is a change of topic, but I never got the story behind this one.

Way back when, maybe 10 years ago or so now, Feder wrote something about North in his column about north picking up some hookers or being busted for some picking up some hookers, etc..... it was about hookers.

Then I remember North going on the air the next week ripping Feder on why he put that crap in his column.

If anyone remembers this, what was the real deal behind all that?

Jess and Nort had a limo. they stopped on North Avenue to ask for some directions on how to get to the local orphanage, the lady (who some say was not a lady) requested a fee for such information and they said they would oblige. The lady also happen to be undercover looking for guys looking for directions for a fee.

The charges then happen to be dropped.
