Interstingly, pimping and bat flipping homers is accepted across more cultures (Asain, Hispanic,Black) than not.

As a kid he WAS home runs. By the time I got to be around him for moments in Atlanta or later for baseball stuff with my son, he primarily became a gentleman with the highest integrity. I'm more than a little sad today.

I think that was the thing about Henry Aaron. He was a gentleman, but he absolutely exuded the fact that he wasn't going to bullshit you whether you liked it or not. Totally genuine straight shooter.

Average defender, good arm but not in the Clemente/Winfield/Ichiro class by any stretch. He played middle infield in the Negro Leagues, and managed to stay in RF until he was 38. In his prime he could play CF once or twice a month.

The few times I was around him I was genuinely afraid to talk for fear of stuttering or stammering in awe. My son and his teammates would laugh at that until they realized that their fathers and the major leaguers around were in the same boat

I'm sure I saw at least a couple of those homers in person. I know I saw him hit number 727 off Rick Reuschel. I still have the scorecard. Interestingly, there's a guy selling a ticket for August 6, 1974 vs. the Padres claiming that he hit Nos. 727 and 728 in that game. My scorecard from July 7 of that season is marked as 727 and I was pretty meticulous back then. I'm gonna say I was right and this guy has the numbers wrong.
