Yes they stuffed about 3 movies worth of plots in it and none of them were really satisfying.

Mike had a good point about nitpicking: if the whole doesn’t work, you nitpick a lot more because everything is glaring. When it works, the flaws can be forgiven.

There were too many things that didn’t work together. And to know Patty Jenkins fought for the two openings meant she didn’t understand her own project. She’s better than that. I guess she was just being indignant to the studio. But it was for dumb reasons.

GD is right about Pascal’s performance though. He hammed it up appropriately.

When it came out it seemed to be getting reviews then I checked back later and they had turned negative. Now all kinds of stories about how the director screwed it up by going with a garbage writer and her own special effects people instead of Snyder's team. It seems like it would be tough to make a bad comic book movie with all the source material they have to work with.

I thought it was really disappointing. There was a good storyline here that needed someone to come in and say "Get rid of Max Lord completely" and just make it a battle of the two women. Pedro Pascal tried his best but his character was poorly written with some of the most cringe worthy dialogue seen in a superhero movie and that is a very hard thing to accomplish.

It also was strange to highlight so much how this movie was an 80s movie with callbacks to a previous time as a central point of the storyline and then it's pretty much a story that could have taken place in any time period but the people are wearing neon clothes.

I guess it's just another sign that WB superhero movies are the equivalent of store brand generic cola to Coke. If you don't absolutely hate it you are pleasantly surprised.

Watched it last week just because it's an HBO Max, so figured why not. Multiple times during the movie my wife and I looked at each other and wondered why the hell we were still watching it.

My review would be, "it's awful".

So I guess the message was that Trump is bad and people should never wish for the world to be better for them because the world is already fine enough as it is and you'll just ruin it. And that girls rock.
