I think it is interesting that everyone pretty much does the same Mark Twain impression but nobody has ever actually heard his voice. They are doing an impression of a guy that did an impression of Twain because he knew him.

The story I heard was that he actually liked them but he faced a lot of on-street bullying where strangers would just yell -

- and so forth. So he just destroyed them due to depression.
