If not Wentz then whom? In terms of a trade I’ve seen Carr & Tua (convoluted 3-way with Houston) mentioned. Neither seems likely. UFA pickings are pretty slim - Teddy B? Fitz? Mitch? Dak?

I’m starting to lean toward Fitzpatrick as the starter and a qb in the 1st. Pace rolls the dice that they get the good Fitz enough that they make the playoffs and save his job. That buys time for the rookie to develop.

You go with your choice of Foles and whatever QB you can get in the late rounds.

Worse thing you can do is over pay for a QB that is slightly better then Foles at best. If Pace and Nagy hit on a late round QB then all is forgiven in Chicago.

It's a gamble but so are all these trades and UFA signings. Go 3-13 next year and have a shot at one of the top QB's if this blows up in your face.

Problem with this is Pace is in win now mode and can't afford to go 3-13 or he will be fired. This is what dumbass George Mccasky doesn't understand about having your GM be your ONLY football guy who makes decisions. Pace will make the best decision for himself, not the Bears.

George has created a nightmare scenario, he's retained a GM that will likely gut the future of his franchise in an effort to save his job and has retained a coach that was hired based on the premise that he would develop the team offensively, but cannot identify/develop/coach NFL offense at anything more than a bottom 5 level.

That's what you get when you fill your organization with family and yes men/women, abject failure from top to bottom. The franchise needs to launch everyone from Ted on down, bring in a football guy to run all football operations, and have George go kiss babies and do fundraising walks, anything that keeps him away from football operations.

The Bears have a huge market and engaged fandom all to themselves they should be one of the leading franchises in the NFL, ownership is the only thing holding them back.

This seems like the type of thing the Bears would do.. and overpaying to do it adds up with them. I’ve had a bad feeling about all this ever since it was announced they’d be retained.


Like I said in another thread -this will get embarrassing before it gets better. You have two guys in Pace and Nagy that have done nothing but show that they have no idea what they’re doing since they’ve been brought here. That’s not going to change now.


On a side note, I’m not sure I even dislike Wentz, but I also don’t see him being the answer to all the problems. His accuracy is questionable, and he has an injury history.

The amount of draft picks and money that Pace will have blown on the QB position is truly remarkable. Also remarkable will be the fact that they still don't have a good QB.

This has the potential to be the worst trade ever involving a QB named Carson.
