to me, you are paid to get to the qb. No excuses. No talk about pressures or how good of a run defender he might be. Those are all additions that would take a sacker from great to elite. Pass rush is like home run hitter with a very objective stat to quantify your work

the offense had the ball for 21 minutes yesterday. they had 9 points. 6 of those were earned on a last second garbage time drive and play. the other 3 were earned after a 6 yard drive. directing anger at the defense is misguided and lazy.

On the Postgame last night, Olin Kruetz said that teams scheme against Mack. In watching game film, he's routinely doubled teamed. He said there were guys like that the Bears OLine keyed on as well when they played (Jason Taylor, Suh, etc). The goal was to stop/slow them, and force the other defenders to make plays.

If true- and I would think a former player would have more insight than us message board dopes- then it just goes to show what a terrible season Quinn and others had.

Donald being better than Mack has what to do with the Bears or the Raiders?

As far as the "we suck less mindset", you have no room to chirp. The Bears have lost 8 of their last 11 games, including the playoffs. The RAIDERS sat at 6-3, in position to make a run at a Wild Card spot, then lost 5 of their next 6 and it took a miracle against the Jets to keep it from being a 6 game skid.

As you may or may not be aware, I had the pleasure of watching Khalil Mack as a member of the Oakland Raiders for four seasons. He was named All-Pro at two positions. TWO! Mack and Donald were displaying generational, transcendent talent.

Yet the Raiders could only turn that into one playoff appearance with Mack. You should be impressed with the Bears being able to do it twice given your opinion on Mack's play.

as I've said, a pass rusher is judged by his sacks, no if's and's or buts about it

I think Mack is still a good player and does a lot for this team. He is still clearly a guy the other team is game planning against. If they make him available, even with this contract, people would be lined up to get him and there would be a nice return.
