The contract is worth $1 million, and Workman could earn an additional $2 million in incentives, as Patrick Mooney of the Athletic first reported.

Workman, 32, had a 5.95 ERA in 21 appearances split between the Red Sox and Phillies in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. That was a stark dip in production after Workman had a terrific 2019 season, when he posted a 1.88 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 73 appearances for Boston. Workman has a career 3.89 ERA across six MLB seasons.

Strop has agreed to a minor league deal with the Cubs that includes an invite to big league camp in spring training, Russell Dorsey of the Sun-Times and other outlets reported Wednesday morning. Strop had a standout tenure in playing for the Cubs from 2013-’19 before signing with the Reds ahead of the 2020 season. He then made just four appearances for the Reds, posting a 3.86 ERA, before being designated for assignment, after which he signed with the Cubs last September but didn’t appear in a game for Chicago down the stretch.

Strop, 35, had a 2.90 ERA in his previous six-and-a-half seasons in Chicago. He had a 4.97 ERA for the Cubs in 50 appearances in 2019.
