The Park Ridge Mariano's has heated underground parking. It's pretty wild to see all your windows fog up in about 30 seconds. Instant hotbox effect.

Lake Effect is going to be brutal in some areas.

Roads were fine for the most part this morning. I am fully expecting a 90-120 minute commute home later on today.

Dealt with ice, snow, washer fluid being used in bunches, and too wore sunglasses all during this morning's drive. Strange indeed.

so far much ado about nothing. I'm at the office with one eye out the window. If its starting to look bad I'll shut down the office and send the two other people here home. forecast now saying no snow till 3 or 4:00. Earlier they were saying noon.

We're still getting slammed. The sun is a rumor. I'd hoped that I could get out a little, but that ain't happening for awhile. Oh for the weather of 2-3 weeks ago.

I'm trying to remember just how much money I'd have made as a kid though. My best friend and I would've made a killing on just two blocks.

We've packed an entire winter into 3 weeks. But let's not forget 2014. 1st all time in snow, and 3rd all time in cold. On May 14th, we had snow that stuck. I remember I had a dream that summer that it snowed.

Yeah '13-'14 was awful. We've been lucky overall the last few winters, but this last 2-3 weeks has been insane. I think I have shoveled more snow during this recent stretch than I did all of 2019 and 2020.

Fortunately, it looks as though starting on Sunday the cold will start to ease a bit and we'll have high temps above freezing for the most part for an extended stretch. It also does not appear that there will be a huge 1-2 day jump in temps coupled with rain which would create all kinds of floods and headaches.

We're two weeks from March and the sun's rays will start to get stronger which makes it tougher for a real cold snap to stick around for more than a couple of days.

Every day for the past 10 days, they've pushed the warm up back a day. It's getting disheartening.

Didn't some ice wash ashore in Lake Michigan on June 1 that year?

My son's baseball field was maybe 300 yards off of the lake. I don't recall ice washing up, but half of the games were snowed out.

Absolutely. I left work at 4pm on Friday and didn't have to turn my headlights on at all.

There is still light in the sky at 6.not a ton but not the pitch black of a month ago. Sunrise a touch earlier too.

13-14 was the year with historic lake ice coverage so it’s possible there was still ice in May washing ashore. Up until this cold spell there wasn’t much frost in the ground. Snow cover probably mitigated how deals it went so hopefully the ground will thaw nicely.
