Calling for 6 inches or more near the lake in Kenosha now. They are saying lake effect really can range drastically. I don’t mind the snow if it’s light and fluffy no matter how much there is, you just have to be cognizant of where the wind is or you can give yourself a face wash. I shoveled and chipped ice for 90 minutes late this afternoon, and 10 degrees with light winds never felt so good.

The way it's been snowing here for the last two hours, I expect at least six to eight fresh inches by the morning.

Fuck!

It's not good. I've shoveled 3 times today. It's kinda pointless, but seeing how much snow has fallen since the last time is impressive.

I don’t think I’m going anywhere until tomorrow afternoon. Going to have to pick my way to a good road. Wind is the problem kit here. I’m moving.

I love Cheryl but her hand/arm motions get distracting.

It’s a never-ending combination of grand swooping and surgical hand-spearing of locations.

Quote:
As the Chicago area continues to cope with a powerful winter storm, Midway International Airport was one of the hardest-hit areas in the region, with nearly six inches of snow falling within a three-hour span on Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, Midway has reported 11.9 inches of snow as of 9 p.m. Monday. That snowfall total is the highest in the city of Chicago, according to reports published by NWS.

Between 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., 2.9 inches of snow fell at the airport, per NWS. In the hour and 10 minutes following that, another 3 inches of snow fell, meaning that 5.9 inches of snow had fallen at the airport in a three-hour span.

Even with those eye-popping numbers, the show isn’t over yet at Midway, or in the Chicago area in general. In fact, snow is expected to continue through the morning on Tuesday, with a winter storm warning in effect until noon for Lake and Cook counties.

Lake-effect snow and lake-enhancement could fuel the snow, with 6-to-12 additional inches of snow possible before the system finally moves out of the region Tuesday afternoon.

This would have been a snow day for CPS.

Shoveling into the quiet night or start of the early morning while the snow falls is so relaxing. Love talking a pause and soaking in the scenery.

These local weather forecaster are the stupidest people ever.

They have to talk about snowfall in NW Indiana this morning, because they weren't right about the snowfall forecast for Chicagoland.

Hardly any snowfall in Wheaton.

If what's rumored for late tomorrow and Thursday comes to fruition, this would be a snow week. I'll be having my son carve out a path to the plowed street so its ok for the delivery people.

There was a foot and a half of snow at Midway. Brookfield is way over a foot.

90 minutes with the snowblower. I almost have to shoot the snow straight up. It was 6 inches before I started and still coming down hard. Pretty crazy. At least it isn't cold out. 10 degrees doesn't even register with me anymore. Feels fine.

Tough to tell the final snow totals here in what Jorr calls Sleepy Hollow because of all the drifting. It was well over a foot in some spots and bare driveway in other. I suspect we got 3-4 inches.

Have a, I guess friend but more like former asshole I knew, From down there saying his house is 41 degrees now. Another former classmate who lives in Arkansas posting things about cutting your heat to 60 degrees because the electrical grid can’t handle the power draw from everyone’s heaters.

My main fuel tank is frozen. Hoping we can hold out until Thursday when the fuel truck should be Bke to get here to fill the smaller tank with a 70/30 blend to get us through the rest of this winter. I’m tired.

The water lines to my laundry froze up north. First the hot went then the cold this week. It is a colder outside facing room, but I keep the place warmer even when I am not there. The rest of my eater lines are fine. I used to shut off the water when I left, but I decided to just keep the house warm enough when away.

Dummy, my place up north. My Pulte has never had frozen water lines. As I have said many times, the Pulte has been the best built home I ever owned, and I have had it 17 years.

The place up north is a custom built log style homes. The insulation is just not as good on those places.

Copper waterlines tend to bust when frozen.
