"They?"

Who are "they," and who are "you"? If you're not a wealthy denizen of Palm Beach Island who abuses prescription drugs and goes on suspicious sex holidays to the Dominican, why would I feel about "you" the way I feel about him?

I was wondering the same thing

If you look around the room and can't find the idiot, it is you.

890 has been waiting for this day for years. They've wanted to break free of Rush ever since they first brought Dahl on, but were too afraid. By going to the big opioid in the sky, he did the work for them. Do you think Cumulus execs trust Ben Shapiro to be their anchor?

His popularity is responsible for the current state of journalism in the country. Not that it's his fault. He found a niche and parlayed it into a giant.

Great entertainer.

RIP.

You know the radio world better than me, but I would guess the audience has to be ancient for conservative radio. I find Ben Shapiro to be unlistenable. He talks way too fast for one, and he has a terrible radio voice. I would guess someone older. Hannity is still doing radio right? That would be my guess for the prime Rush spot. Probably further fragmentation, and clinging to old models as the ship slowing goes down.

I think stations will eventually become local again, and the big conglomerates will die off. That's the only thing that can make this medium semi-relevant again.

He wasn't that important or influential. Maybe a small part, but I would say technology, the drive for profits and the "professionalism" of journalism are all far more important than Rush.

I once asked Al Franken why he never included Savage in his attacks on conservative figures, and he said Savage was too disgusting to touch. I don't recall a lot about Savage other than he would be near orgasm talking about guns.

Savage was full-on crackpot when I used to check out his show on occasion. The best was when some troll callers would sneak through whoever was screening calls and he would blow a gasket on air.

Well this thread is about what I expected from here. Haven’t listened to him in 10 years but he was a big deal for quite a while. Not many accomplish that.

I remember occasionally watching Rush's short lived TV show when it started, but I didn't care for his style of talk radio or any of the wannabe clones like Mark Levin.

I would flip it on too piss my roommate off. Wouldn’t even listen to what was being sai but for a minute here or there. Would occasional mumble, he makes a good point just to rile him up. Great way to get him out of the room.

I don’t think I’ve heard him on the radio for 20 years. I think he was on in Bozeman. Right after the Laura Wchlesinger show and right before Papa Joe Chevalier on 1450.
