Why do you say that? Because he likes young women? I'm not sure that's the standard for "predator". If it is we should be talking about a lot of other famous men in addition to Woody Allen. The reason this series was created is because the guy has been accused of molesting his 7 year old adopted daughter. That's an allegation that all evidence shows to be false.

Anyway, there is an interesting documentary to be made from this material. This obviously isn't it, though. This is a work of #metoo propaganda that immediately and uncritically accepts Mia Farrow's version of events.

Basically every famous rock star and actor is now a "predator of some type" by the standards of #metoo. Leonardo DiCaprio has been fucking a new 18-year-old every year since 1997. Are we supposed to believe he checked IDs every single time? Paul Walker is now considered some departed saint even though he was with someone he started dating when she was 16.

People are afraid to admit that any nuance exists in these situations, or that a gorgeous 17 year old girl does have some power in a relationship dynamic no matter how powerful her partner. In fact that might be the peak of her powers and that's the way it's been for thousands of years.

it honestly should just be a footnote in a larger narrative about how hollywood relationships are grown from a different soil completely, and that the motives of relationships come from status and power rather than love. it would be a lot like elitist families or the royal family. like "the crown". it would illuminate just how fucked up it is in that culture.

This kind of ties into the stat that RPB cites from 60 Minutes regarding 25% of evangelicals and 20% of Catholics holding "QAnon beliefs". But what does that really mean? My contention is that a very tiny percentage of people actually know what QAnon is. I don't really know anything about it and I'm 100% certain I know way more than most people. I'm pretty sure "Q" is a guy claiming to be a former CIA agent. I don't even know where I heard that and I don't know where to go to get Q updates or info. I'm guessing on 4chan.

But anyway, I'm sure one of the "QAnon beliefs" that those evangelicals and Catholics hold is that there are different social and sexual mores for elites than those that are held by most of the middle and lower class people who make up the country. I'll give you an example. If I would have shown up at the door of Studio 54 when I was 17 years old I would have been refused entry and laughed at. But you can find photos of 12 year old Drew Barrymore there with a drink and a cigarette. And nobody really thought anything about it.

I don't care enough to debate the semantics of predator here. A guy that steals your wallet or is a deadbeat dad is a scumbag. A middle aged man who hooks up with his girlfriend's teenage daughter is something else. This was the case before MeToo and is still the case.

I think what really gets lost in the Soon Yi discussion is that she was an orphan from a foreign country living in a non traditional family with no male leadership. Add in that she was so young. There are so many inequalities and obvious non amorous psychological needs that Woody fills that I'd call it, per se manipulative. A real man would recognize it and say no from the beginning.
