nah...we saw her on cbs as a divorced lesbian with a black daughter and the police chief of los angeles. the series was called 'tommy'.

hbo tv political incorrectness vs. network tv over-the-top diversity virtue signaling. ridiculous, but, i'm sure she got paid lots of money for acting in the show.

cbs told me:

lesbians = good.
white mother and black child = good.

cbs writers of the show tell us that she's a stand-up person because as the police chief, she helps illegal immigrants and destroys the names of young blacks in police gang databases. this is today's rockford files/nypd and 2 seconds of barney miller.

To start, I agree with the consensus that Tony was shot in the final episode of the The Sopranos. The cinematography and the music indicate that Tony was shot and killed. Every other episode had a different song playing during the credits; the music typically complimented the episode. In the final episode, the music equally complimented the episode- silence. The silence seemed to indicate that "nothingness" i.e. Tony is no longer alive.

I believe that Valery from the Pine Barrens episode was the one who ultimately shot Tony in the final episode. Here are my reasons why:

1st) Valery, the Russian mobster shot in Pine Barrens episode, was highly trained in the military. It is unlikely that he merely disappeared never to be seen again. In addition, Chris and Paulie noticed that his blood trail suddenly vanished and their car was stolen. All of the circumstances indicate that Valery made it out alive. Tony was a very cautious person, especially in the last episode given all of the killings going on, and therefore it required a person with very keen skills to get close to Tony without him becoming suspicious.

2nd) Tony was shot in front of his family. Although the mobsters on the show were brutal and merciless, they typically left family out of the equation when it came to "hits." The mob typically has a code which prohibits harm to the target's wife and children. Judging from the the other murders on the show, I think most of the mobsters or hit men would have aborted once they had seen Tony's family surrounding him. Therefore, the mafia style hits are typically business-like, but this hit seemed more personal for a guy to be killed in front of his entire family. Valery had a personal vendetta against the Soprano crew and wouldn't care about injuring Tony's family in the name of revenge.

3rd) The new york family and the new jersey family seemed to have come to a resolution. Alot of blood was already shed and both families had strong financial interests in each other. After all of the killings, I don't see how it was in the new york family's best interests to kill Tony- it would probably have been cheaper to keep around. Also, the show demonstrated that Phil was the one who really wanted and initiated all of the killings, so once he was killed and it is not apparent who remained in the New York who would still want Tony to be killed so badly.

tl;dr Valery, russian mobster dude from Pine Barrens episode, killed tony.

yeah, i can see the russian money-launderer behind something like this:

motives -

- right-hand man who saved his life in chechnya
- tony's crew attempted to kill his right-hand man for no good reason
- tony lied to him

situation -

the war with new york saw tony's earnings shrink and tony became useless as a current/future client
the war with new york also weakened tony's power to use against him
he could probably grab some of the hoard of cash that he socked away overseas for tony if tony was out of the picture

Don’t forget The Vipers!

Grizzly Adams looking motherfucker.

I don't know about that, probably a more middle class abode like we see of Pussy's place. She cleared 600K from the spec house that she ostensibly got to keep, and after Tony's death at the hands of the Headless Horseman she'd have an asset worth between 1 and 2 million, not counting any cash squirreled away that Neil Mink gets to her.

Likely she plays the part of the grieving widow until she realizes that Rosalie Aprile will no longer put up with her shit now that she is no longer The Don's Wife, and all the perks she enjoyed have likewise dried up, so she'll put the house up for sale and call Vic Musto so he can really spray glue on her dining room walls.

Do any of the streaming services have Sopranos available to watch or do you have to have HBO max now only?

I believe so. Amazon doesn't have it anymore.

Finished the series last night. Really enjoyed it, actually even more than the 1st time around so I could really focus on some of the dialogue and such. I would agree that NY had Tony killed. Once Tony looks up to see his daughter walking through the door, the next instant is the bullet going through his head right after the series fades to black. I will say that one song stuck out to me when watching the last couple of episodes that held some weight when I tried to figure out who was responsible. The song "Suspicious Minds", by Elvis Presley, is playing in the back room of Satriale's while Tony meets with Patsy and (later) Little Carmine. One of the main lyrics that plays over and over is "Caught in a Trap"....

I’m going to rewatch it starting this weekend. This will probably be my 3rd rewatch having last rewatched it about 4 winters ago. We watched it each week when it was on HBO and although it was good, I am of the opinion that it is overrated. It’s not in my top 3 of all time due to a few too many pointless storylines, like Tony’s dad’s goomah or Hesch’s royalties thefts. Season 1 was very good but subsequent seasons were good in spurts.

There’s no doubt Tony got killed and NY being behind it definitely makes the most sense.

It's a good take. He has a few other good videos too. The one on the Mandalorian is good as well.

Yeah, now I'm itching to re-watch the whole thing. But before I do, I feel like I need to watch a primer like this to make sure I catch everything. I never knew there was a moving wine glass in that one scene (or maybe I did but forgot?).

I wonder whether Chase intended that symbolism or if people came up with it after the fact and the idea just fit.

I also forgot how great she looked.

Yeah back in the day she did some FHX/Maxim type stuff. Always thought it was funny when I learned she wasn't Italian.

I dont know if this one has been popular in Soprano's lore about the hit but this is the first ive heard it. A bit long but nteresting. Chase was a genius leaving so many clues that could be interpreted so many different ways. Lastly rewatching the series, Gandolfini's portrayal is the best acting job in TV history.

That was a good video, never thought about some of that. Meadow also saved Tony when she grabbed that desk lamp from the basement for college.

you know they research and bury the symbolism (easter eggs) so we keep talking about it years later.

the only way for this series to end was to make it nebulous. notice that doesn't seem to happen anymore. there is always an "ending" of some sort.

Did Phil just go up to the 17 year old after school and ask her to get thrown into a mental hospital, be interested in AJ, and give her the rundown of how it's suppose to go? She's not really part of that Thing of Theirs.
