First off, I'm not trying to brag. I mean, yes, it's pretty cool I can sell some of my stock to fund the purchase of a single pair of socks. I know not everyone has the means to raise enough money to afford one pair of $17 socks. I certainly intend to check my privilege about this. I am strongly considering donating a $17 pair of socks to the local homeless shelter as a means of overcoming the negative social capital of this transaction.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand. I bought a pair of $17 socks. I normally purchase 6 pairs of socks for less than $17. These are just standard, run of the mill athletic socks. These aren't the fancy socks that lawyers wear. It's the same socks that you wear when playing basketball or walking on a nature trail wearing a mask. They're fine too. I've never been like "These socks just won't do. Is it because I'm buying socks at too low of a price point?". It's a pretty standard thing said on the internet to point out that "a poor person buys 5 pairs of boots for $20 each that lasts a year while a rich person can buy one pair of boots for $100 that lasts 20 years and therefore the poor person is actually paying more for the cheaper boots". So, I was wondering if I was actually doing it all wrong buying 6 socks when I could instead purchase one sock for roughly the same price. Was I in fact a victim of income inequality in regards to my sock purchasing habits? What if I have been purchasing socks wrong for my entire life? I convinced myself that my feet, at least for one day out of the month, would get to live as the ultra-rich live in $17 socks while also finally answering the question as to what really makes a pair of socks worth $17.

Now, I was a little nervous about these socks so it took me roughly a year to get up the courage to try them on. What happens if I suddenly realized that my entire life was terrible because of the cheap fabric I had been using to put a barrier between my shoes and my feet? Would I have to throw out every other sock in my house, and order $680 worth of socks? That's like 5 shares of Gamestop. However, these socks are guaranteed for life, which I still don't know exactly what that means, but it seems to be that as long as a dog doesn't bit my foot, I don't burn myself in a fire, and I don't lose one of the socks then they'll send me a new one if it "breaks". I think I can avoid those things so it turns out that these socks are ultimately the first thing I've ever bought that will definitely be transferred to my next of kin upon my death though my next of kin will have to be more careful as the warranty will not be in effect during their use of these $17 socks. So ultimately, I finally became mentally prepared enough to try these $17 socks. Here is my review.

They are nice. They do the same job as my other socks. If you have $17 to spare and need a pair of socks these would fit your needs. If you want a cheaper version of socks, then I would recommend buying a 6 pack of socks for less than $17.

I assume you are talking about Bombas? They are good socks. TommyJohns underwear are also worth the money.

Bombas are actually warrantied for a year (I think), so if you tear them, they’ll replace them. Plus they come with the added benefit of passive charity, with a pair donated to the homeless for each pair sold.

You get the dual fart-sniffing benefit of: 1) knowing you’re wearing rich person socks and 2) knowing you’ve indirectly given socks to the homeless.

Darn Tough. Maybe I'll buy something $17 Bombas too. They donate a pair to the homeless so I can feel good about myself while doing it compared to Darn Tough who probably just buys more houses on Lake Champlain like Bernie.

this lawyer is wearing a pair of Polo socks that have a hole in them that is not quite big enough for them to be thrown away

I'm not a picky person but I'm incredibly particular about socks going all the way back to my youth. Maybe I'm a bit on the spectrum

When Paul Stuart opened on LaSalle several years back, I walked in on my lunch break to peruse their offerings. A pair of socks was $42.

Looks like Brick just shot to the top of my list of wealthiest CFMB posters. Sorry Denis.

Joke or not I have to be very picky about socks. After all, as an infantryman you learn first to take care of your feet. They had us wear wool in summer for chrissakes. Anyway, my feet sweat. Not like flop sweat but enough. Regular socks get damp, damp socks make your feet feel cold and then you are having a bad day.

So Mazel Tov Richie Rich.

I think I could pull it off completely redoing my sock drawer with $17 socks if I cancelled a vacation to Orlando. Sorry kid, no trip to the Orlando Airport Hampton Inn. I need some $17 socks.

I assumed NBA players wore cotton socks. They actually wear 100% acrylic.

I was getting my youngest some new shoes for my youngest son, a couple of things for myself (from the sale rack) and grabbed a crazy patterned pair of athletic socks for my oldest that may have been a tick more. Now six years later my son still has those socks.

And I still have the bargain stuff I bought. I'm cheap that way

At $30 a pair, looks like the vacation to the Dells is cancelled too.

I loved his natural instinct to immediately say, not trying to brag. That is the funny thing about this place is that a poster tries to relay personal stories but has to worry about being attacked for being forthcoming.

In any case, and not trying to brag, but today was bonus day. I always love the first Thursday in March.

 :D

If I had to choose between a house on Lake Champlain and a new pair of Socks every day for the rest of my life... wel it’s the socks, Lake Champlain is really far away.

Socks are important. What's the point of having uncomfortable socks after 3 washings?

Towels are the same way. Don't go cheap.

If it is good enough for the mayor of the 15th best town in Indiana then it's good enough for me.

At least top 11 if you’re being fair.

I now have spent the day comparing things I've bought into the amount of socks I could purchase. I skip two lunches at Panera and I've got a pair of socks for the rest of my life.
