Franchising him for one year is better than overpaying him or another receiver in FA.

a one year contract isnt the end game. they either work out a long term deal or trade him or a hold out

If no agreement they will pull tag and cut him.

I'd be fine with that. He's a #2 receiver who happens to be their #1 because the Bears are inept. He's not elite...his value was being Mitch's security blanket, and hopefully that won't be needed anymore.

i dont get the "he's not a #1 WR" taeks. he may not be an elite #1 wr, but he's a #1 wr.

I guess it's like saying Kyle Hendricks is the Cubs #1, but I don't view him as a true #1 who would command the same contract as Scherzer, Cole, etc.

I think the issue is he wants to be paid as an elite #1 wr.

The whole organization is on a one year deal. Why would you pay AROB?

Elite wrs don't get the ball taken from them by the Db multiple times every year.

Yup. If he had a decent QB he would be putting up elite numbers and be paid like an elite WR without any questions

Allen Robinson has never been a top 3 WR in his division. He can be taken out of games by elite to really good corners and he isn't a home run hitter. That matters. He seems to be a good team guy, but I don't want to see the Bears break the bank for him.

He was the 2nd best WR in the division in 2019 and 3rd best this past year and would’ve been the best in a few other divisions.

Golladay and Diggs were better in 2019.

Both those guys play on a dome with much better QBs. Golladay was the best in the division..A.R. Was next.

Kirk Cousins is a bum. Davante Adams has been the best WR in the division and he's likely no worse than a top 2 WR in the NFL.

Adams was the best WR in the division this year, maybe the best in the NFL. Last year was what you were speaking of about AR.. He outperformed Adams and Diggs in 19.

He's a great WR. As other said, he doesn't have the skills to put him in the elite level. I haven't looked but I assume his YAC is pedestrian, which really separates the elite guys, in my opinion.

He did lose a troubling amount of contested catches this year also.

His yac sucks because his QBs have sucked, hes always fighting for 50-50 balls

Compare this to your thoughts on Khalil Mack, and how his production doesn't match his salary because others are better. Pay Robinson as a top 5 WR and you have the same problem.

That goes back to what I said, Nas. Since Arob has been here, have the Bears had a top 3 QB in the division? Maybe in 2018, certainly not since.

I'm not saying he is a top three or top five WR in the league, but he is certainly a #1.

The Bears are currently projected to be around $22.5 million over their adjusted cap of $190 million after utilizing the franchise tag on star receiver Allen Robinson on Tuesday. The tag comes at a cost of $18 million for Robinson in 2021. The two sides have until the July 15 deadline to work out a long-term deal.

The Bears must be under the $190-million threshold by 3 p.m. CT next Wednesday, when the new league year begins.

And they still need a quarterback.
