The last thing I want to do is bring up a Fire on Harry thing (which I would be more than happy to join in); but I gotta say that this has been a week of damn good radio with Carm running with the boys.

Carm sure gives Mac and Jurko that young guy appeal that Mac talks of.

There's only so many Will Farrel movies that Jurko can rave about before it looks like what it is (2 older guys trying too hard to sound hip)

Much like a bloated, fat ass with hair plugs trying to hit Lollapalloza, bring in Carm and stop pretending. Carm gives the appeal to the young 'uns without looking like your trying too hard.

Harry, take another week off

later

I don't hate Harry but Carmen has breathed new life into the show this week. It's been better than it has been in a long time. I don't know if that is concidence or if it exposing your show and some of its issues.

I thought the show was better than it has been last week with Carmen, Hood, and Harry too. I'm not saying I'm just saying.

For the most part, I've enjoyed the shows the entire baseball season. Even with Harry's way over the fucking top Cubbie Kool Aid induced love fests. I think playoff baseball and the upcoming NFL season will breathe further fire and passion into the Afternoon Saloon.

Granted I can't listen as much as I used to due to work, but the shows the past 2 weeks have been top notch. Kudos, yentlemen.

I've blathered on before about the reasons I dislike Harry, so suffice to say that aside from being a punching bag for Mac and Jurko, I honestly don't think he adds anything of value to the show.

Carmen is knowledgeable, gives them the appeal to the younger demographic that sabu mentioned, and above all, isn't soul-crushingly lame. I think Carmen deserves to be on a larger stage than he's on now. He's the goods; and unlike Tiny, has actually earned a role in afternoon drive in a major market.

I'm all for anything that gets Harry off the show, but Carmen would not be my choice.

If they want the young demographic, Drinky is the choice. Chronologically he is in his mid 30's. His maturity level is in the early 20's. He can relate to the demographic Mac desires.

You talk about Mac and Jurco trying to sound hip, but Carmen wouldn't add hipness to the show. All it would be is "My Blue Heaven" references for 4 hrs. a day.

Carmen would be a great choice. His knowledge of the NBA, ice hockey and MLB is outstanding. As a bonus he possesses extensive film knowledge AND is not over the top in his support for the local squads.

I would definently tune in to MJC. Thumbs up to this thread.

Carmen is going to be the "Mac" of that station one day down the road.

I just called Michael Vick's dog, and he agrees, the show has been great this week.

Careful Carm, I don't want to be around when you blow your achilles, then Jack Harry. I only hope you won't run from Michael Strahan, because I doubt Pappy will be there to protect you.

Harry is where he belongs, OFF THE AIR.

I like Carmen, he at least knows about sports.

Carmen might not be especially hip, but at least he isn't calling people "J-Clay" or "G-So" and talking about "hot chicks." You might as well be saying "Whaaaaat's Uuuuuppp?" at that point.

i understand why everyone hates harry so much, but why does jurko get a free pass? he's sophomoric, uninspired, and adds no insight discussing any topic other than football.

i know jurko is mac's guy, and harry is not. but at least harry exhibits an awareness of sports, unlike jurko, who seems oblivious to anything but the nfl.

and why all this love for carmen? i don't get that either...

It took a long time for the whole MJH to start working. Leave it alone. Don't broke. Don't Fix.

Hubert, you are right with some of the things you say, I like Carmen, but I think some of the people supporting him, are just tired of Harry's same old shtick.

I agree, I think Jurko is the weaker link, but it seems to me the chemistry that's worked so well is starting to waiver. Is there a change in the future for MJH? It seems odd that the last few weeks hasn't had the big 3 together much and when they are, the contention is obvious.

I've always liked Carm, but I'd rather see him with Waddle in the mornings than Mac and Jurko in the afternoon. Let Silvy be their little bitch in the afternoon.

I actually like "The Show," when it's got the Hood-Carm-JD trio working (which, sadly, is almost never). I wish 1000 was somehow able to break free from its national show shackles (especially given the ill-named Tirico and Van Pelt show, which seldom features either, and almost never both) and run "The Hood, Carm and JD" show in that time-slot.

Carm is the next "Mac" as Frank Coztanza is the next 'Buster" Olney

I am still boycotting everything ESPN but I might think about lifting it from 2-6pm for the MJC show.
