They may. But they aren't a better team.

Yep. The 89 is best Illinois team I have ever seen. I dont think this years team is better than the 2005 team either, but that is a closer discussion.

The 89 team's only deficiency was their head coach. With a real coach, they'd easily have won the title.

I dont know about easily, but the coach was a problem. I used to love hearing Knight go off on Henson. He had very little respect for him as a coach.

When Knight's teams were pummeling the Illini, I wonder if Lou just laid back and enjoyed it.

Perhaps this will help your memory JORR

Quote:
Henson coached against Bob Knight and Indiana a whopping 44 times during his tenure at Illinois, winning just 15 times and losing 29. (Knight beat him at Texas Tech too, after Henson had returned to New Mexico State.)

Yep. He is a great player, but he settles too much for crap like that. If he attacks Illinois wins it there.

Curbelo has really improved throughout the season. Still gets a little out of control at times but looking forward to seeing him next season.

I don’t watch many Illini games, but whenever I have they don’t really look like they know what they’re doing on offense, but that’s hardly a disqualifier from being elite in college. One of those cliche things that “may catch up with them” in the tournament, but what isn’t?

The referee blowing the whistle and holding the ball for 8 seconds so Ohio State could set up and hit a 3 is a terrible beat for those -5.5/-6 betters.

Now Illini play on Friday. I don't know what is going on with the schedule. Covid changes I guess.

That’s how you close out a season. 14-1 with 7 wins against top 10 teams.

Still the best team in the country.

Baylor might have to beat Wisconsin, Purdue, Ohio St, Illinois, and Michigan to win it all.

Pretty funny for the committee to put the school Underwood got kicked out of the tournament until they appealed vs his current team in the Sweet Sixteen.

Win that game and it's a cakewalk to the F4.

tourney starts on Friday this year instead of Thursday. I love it. Works perfect for me cause now I don't have to take any real time off work to watch it. I'll DVR everything and work till 3 or so on Friday. On Monday I'm guessing the games don't start till a little later in the day so no problem there.

And also it takes pressure off me to finish watching all the first day games before the end of the night. Now I can just watch till I fall asleep and then wake up Saturday morning and finish off all the day 1 games before day 2 starts.

yea, very much loving the new schedule.

I don't know what assisted living facility Bobby Knight is in, but I do know no one threw an impromptu parade for his nasty old ass today.

The Illini are Big Ten Champs. Maybe Bob Knight is the bunco champion of his rest home.

They have a better chance to win one than Bob Knight or Indiana.
