How often are you doing the tick medicine? I usually just do it spring and summer, and I get my lot sprayed. Ticks were horrible last year.....

we use nexgard. the vet prescribes it and we give her a chew each month. we start in april and i think its a 6mo treatment .

Can't get in to see the Dr. until March 31st, wish it could be sooner but understand.

I finally got my bike back after two weeks and after riding it home I had to make some adjustments myself even after I just spent $300 on repairs.

I realized what my problem with these bike shops is. The guys that sell and work on the high end road bikes are the guys who understand what I want even though I don't really know the jargon or even what some parts are called. And I don't like the way they treat me. It's like when the twins judge Beth at the Kentucky State Tournament in The Queen's Gambit. I'm pretty sure I can out ride most of the guys in the shop. I just don't look like I can.

But the old hippies I took my bike to this last time would find it utterly absurd if I complained that the rear tire was .001 millimeters off center. And I'm not sure they would know how to fix it. But I ride a lot. The bike is almost like another appendage. If something is even slightly off, I can feel it. And I have a very specific way I want the bike set up. This isn't the place for that kind of work.

So I'm kind of stuck in the middle. It's very frustrating.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had a similar situation with racquetball racquets when I played in amateur tournaments across the Upper Midwest. I knew exactly how I wanted my racquet to feel, but the stringer at my home club had no idea what I was talking about and wasn't interested in trying to figure out how to accommodate my requests. So I ended up having to buy a couple of additional racquets just so I could send them to a stringer I liked--a couple hours away--when I broke a string. The whole process was expensive and unwieldy, but I know having the racquets strung according to my preference made a big difference in tournament play.

I guess growing up playing sports without standard equipment or playing surfaces made me less concerned about the extra edge of tuned equipment.

Although, my knees are now killing me from track meets in school hallways and playing football in abandoned parking lots and rail lines.

To clarify, this wasn't when I was a kid. The tournaments were for adults, though junior competitors could play in them if they wanted. By the time I started playing in tournaments, I was in my late 20s and needed every advantage I could muster.

Trust me, I get it. But a friend broke my ankles when I was 30 something and I pretty much gave it up until I could goof off with my sons. Which stopped when I got in the batters box against my oldest, who promptly hit me on the hands with his fastball.

And laughed, saying that I was crowding his plate. Especially when he realized that he drew blood.

I know that feeling, didn't want to face my 12YO oldest when he was on the mound. Bad enough to catch him in the gym during winter workouts, but at least I had a cup.

I had never played racquetball until college. A professor invited me to play, he was my Dad's age. I'm sure I bored him for a few weeks, but eventually I could beat him 80% of the time. I even got good enough to beat the PE instructor/faculty racquetball badass about 25% of the time. Then I graduated, and joined a local club. I took one random game against a cute girl about 5 years younger than me one day, and I don't remember being able to score a point, she was ruthless.

Never played until I was at Champaign. Fun game. Even if you're average.

Well, Lily's lymphoma returned. Started the chemo again today. It'd be nice to have respite from this disease for like 50 years. I've seen enough of it.

Coming off of Hawg... I know I always talk about my oldest daughter but many may not realize I have a middle child that is my second daughter. She is a high flyer in sports and academics. At any rate after years or track, basketball and track (hurdles) she called me today and the verdict is in. Some point over the summer before grad school hip surgery. Laparoscopic at least. Ugh.
