It’s cute, but bullshit like #2 (combined with China’s opening salvo in Anchorage) irritates the shit out of me. The Brits are openly racist in ways typically resembling Cory Booker’s descriptions of American policing. The Chinese are basically buying Africa while treating actual Africans like old timey racist caricatures in local media.

They can fuck right off with that nonsense. Take one look at the comparative treatment of black athletes in the EPL vis-à-vis US pro leagues and get off your inbred high horse, you limey Caller Bobs.

I am by no means an expert, but British society is quite strange with its hierarchy. The English view themselves as a dying breed and complain how you can no longer find an Englishmen in London. I have spent enough time there to pick up on it.

They clearly look down at the entirety of commonwealth countries and even their own islanders the Scots and Welsh. They seem to have a special disdain for the Irish. They look at the very large Polish immigrant population with the same way Americans tend to view Mexicans, meaning folks who take low paying grungy jobs.

My point is that the English have this inherent superiority complex but recognize they have fallen very far from the days of Empire. They still hold that arrogance that goes along with being the top dog for centuries but with no muscle to back it up.

I have also found that they respect Americans but like a big brother who realizes the younger brother has outgrown him.

All that is to say, the entire British society has issues with the non-English not just Caribs and Afros as they call them.

I know, I worry about that. The downfall is needless military engagements and wreck less government spending.

I just wished we had a focus of living within our means. But as you know, our government is a reflection of our people, and we never say no to spending more than we have.

Good observation. When I lived in Scotland, the Scots made no bones about their disdain for the Poles. And yeah, the English don’t like the Scots, either. I’m guessing the Scots will have another referendum on independence in the not too distant future and this time it will pass. They did not want to leave the EU.

The EU with its free movement of labor rules is the reason so many Poles can get into the UK......so there is some irony in the Scots wanting to be part of that.

I was tripped up by all the white people at the hotel with Eastern European and Russian accents, while you have blacks and asians speaking queen's English. I stop trying to guess what someone would sound like based on their appearance.

Lying in your beds, many years from now...would you trade all the days between now and then, for one chance, just one chance, to tell the English...you may take our lives, but we’re still not politely declining to remain part of your country for the second time in a decade.

Ironic, indeed. I guess they prefer having the EU rules rather than having to share their oil profits with England and having England dictate how they run the oil business. It's an interesting relationship for sure. Scottish people, almost to a person, feel they are Scottish first and British second so I was kind of surprised they didn't pass the independence referendum in 2014 or whenever it was. It was interesting to be there during it all and see what people thought about the vote. Saw some folks have some pretty heated discussions, much like we have here. The demographics were interesting, too. Older folks wanted to stay, men wanted to stay. Younger folks and women wanted to leave.

It was funny that when they did the vote on leaving the EU, Scottish people voted well in favor of staying in the EU and when the results were made public, the Scottish leaders said something along the lines of, "Well, since we didn't vote to leave, we still get to say in the EU." EU folks said, Yeah, no, you are still part of Great Britain and GB is leaving the EU so you are, too. If you want to become an independent country, we will gladly evaluate your application for joining the EU.

Yeah, hard to figure out where anyone is from in London. A melting pot city for sure. I like London a lot. If it wasn't so expensive to live there, I could definitely see myself living there in the future.

Yeah, because they don't want to share their petrodollars to support Greece.

Same reason I stopped going to Greek Islands.

could be, but there's other issues involved.

for allowing migrants into greece to get funneled to industrial germany, greece was getting some $8 billion in e.u. subsidies until the mid 2010s.

as far as putting in vs. getting back, you'll find poland (+11.6 billion euro) and hungary (+5 billion euro) ahead of greece (+3.2 billion euro). this is the same argument i hear about northern states vs southern states and what they get back.

what isn't surprising is that poland and hungary aren't the biggest germany supporters when it comes to immigration; so once again, germany steers the money to get support for it's immigration policies.

what germany did with greece was bail-out it's own banks due to greece's public debt. german (and french) banks purchased greek bonds - greece's economy was a massive cash black-economy - no taxes collected - bonds can't be paid.

i'd like to believe that norway prefers it's sovereignty to immigration orders from berlin - via brussels. i do feel bad for norway as 'norwegian' was erased in a stalinist way from a chicago hospital in recent times.

brothers for life - the ottomans fought with the germans and central powers in the first war, didn't declare war on nazi germany in ww2 until the end - germany needed farm workers after the war and the turks went to germany...and now, another 3.5 billion euro for turkey for illegal migrants, oops - refugees.

unbelievable. a nation not in the e.u.

erdogan has taken their money before and weaponized the migrants and merkel sends him billions once again.

Quote:
BRUSSELS (AP) — European Union leaders greenlighted plans on Friday to give Turkey another 3 billion euros ($3.6 billion) over the next few years to provide fresh assistance to Syrian refugees on its territory and to help the country boost border controls.

“It’s about additional funds of 3 billion euros, then afterwards also funds for Lebanon and Jordan,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters. She said the plan, drawn up by the EU’s executive branch, “will soon be formally endorsed.”

Turkey reacted coolly to the plan, saying it’s a way for Europeans “to ensure the EU’s own peace and security.”

Well over 1 million migrants entered the EU in 2015, many of them fleeing conflict in Syria and Iraq. The arrivals through Turkey overwhelmed facilities in the Greek islands, and sparked one of the EU’s biggest-ever political crises.

this is what is called a comedic farce.
