It is clear Jules has extremely racist and sexist views, these types of views are touched on in her book and now that twitter shitstorm has glued everything together that publisher does not want to be putting out blatantly racist and sexist literature.

most digital media companies are losing money in this environment (which is why we are getting almost quarterly layoffs there).

These companies are entirely dependent upon ad revenue and that is drying up as a source around now. Companies like Gawker (and it's parent) were doing layoffs even before Covid because of this. Add in the fact that they have gone through 3 sales in 5 years with each resulting in a lower purchase price despite more assets being included with each new sale and we see a company that won't be around in a few years.

You're probably right. I'm just open to the possibility that "Zombie" Deadspin might get clicks for all the wrong reasons.

I think Deadspin is gonna realize what the SCORE realized. She's just not worth having around. Deadspin could hire thousands of people that can do whatever the hell Julie does. Knowing those thousands of "Non Julie's" will keep their mouth shut on twitter. Deadspin will realize this eventually. They probably have realized it now after this recent shit show. Why employ the trouble makers when you don't have to? Like was said, Deadspin barely makes a profit anyway in these times. So what's the point of having a crazy b.itch like her on the staff that could only bring them down?

Just five years ago I would have taken issue with the term "racism" being used in this context. An imbalance of power must exist for racism to be present. And the idea of racism against white men would have been absurd in 1956 or even 2016. That's the basis for our local meme, "white men will be fine."

Will they though? A whole lot has changed in a very short time. To a point where major corporations aren't considering the resumes of white men in certain circumstances and a U.S. senator is refusing to confirm any cabinet nominees by the president of her own party if they are white men. And nobody seems very upset about it. It's as if it's "normal."

White men are no longer in charge at our universities, at the Pentagon, or at the "paper of record." The power of "whiteness" has dissipated rather quickly.

So yeah, I do think it's racist when someone like Julie DiCaro blames "white men" for a crime rather than blaming the one person who actually committed it. And you know what? I'm gonna bet Hemal Jhaveri will be fine.
