The words alone do not seem racist but we could be missing some context. I guess if I were coach I might ask to use something other than Auschwitz. The others I would have been fine with. I remember when I coached grade school basketball a few years back I asked the kids what they wanted to call one of our plays and they named it Trump. If I would have done that last year I probably would have been asked to quit. I gave the kids a liitle ownership of the play and they seemed to have fun with it. I really didnt care what they called it as long as they ran it right. They never did though.

Eye rolls aside, if context doesn't matter then sure it's just a word, but intent has to be taken into consideration whenever these situations arise. Whoever is responsible for choosing these terms did so with full knowledge of what they were doing. Stupid is a generous way to describe it.

obviously not in and of itself, but I'm going to assume they were playing a team with a large Jewish population and that is the reason all their plays were named as such. Taken in that context calling out dreidel to go along with Auschwitz and rabbi is obviously done with anti-semetic intent.

When I was in high school a kid I played with when I was younger was on Loyola. They were playing New Trier and the kid showed up with swastikas written all over his stick. It made front page news on all the papers and the kid was suspended the rest of the season.
