Embrace the bulge: Scales have once again been tipped in favor of the common man.

Nearly 75% of singles are more turned on by a “dad bod” over any other body type — including a mate with rock-hard washboard abs, according to a sexy new survey of 2,000 people by Dating.com.

Dad bods — think paunchy and pec-less — usually refer to dudes, but the researchers didn’t differentiate between genders, opting instead for a “singles” designation. (Whether this means it’s possible for a woman to have a “dad bod” is unclear.)

You know that's not true. How else do you explain Rubens? I'm pretty sure what's considered "sexy" is based on societal standards. There are African cultures where boobs aren't sexualized at all.

women with 'meat' on them were deemed good breeders. when the rural population was larger than urban populations and marriage & children were vital, very important. go back to ancient times and women with a tan were assumed to be lowly field workers/slaves...hence, pale was in.

still boils down to looks. in the 1930s, the epitome of class and beauty; olivia de havilland, was hopelessly in love with an actor that abused drugs and was into underage girls all his life. if errol flynn looked like w.c. fields, errol has no chance.

I think they just present it that way so women walk around with their titties out. "no honey boobs aren't sexy at all, why don't you take off your shirt and walk around like that all the time"

Dad bods aren't fat fat, they muscular but also a little soft. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of hot guys anymore...there aren't any, I don't know how to say it, "normal" celebrities or they aren't produced in the same way. All the old favorites are aging.

Matt Damon and Josh Duhamel have good ones. Also You covet what you see.

I'm comfortably in the Damon/Duhamel range of dad bod. No wonder I get all those smiles from moms at our public pool.

Jordan Peterson had a video where he talked about dating sites and how people try to get the people who are better looking and hope they won't notice they're not as good looking as the people they're pursuing. In his book he said, "Most men do not meet female human standards. It is for this reason that women on dating sites rate 85 percent of men as below average in attractiveness."

Being skinnier probably has its advantages as far as having more people in the dating pool. You know there aren't women lining up around the block for the 700 lb. man. Unless there's some desperate women who would marry inmates because they think they can change them.

I was reading an article about dating sites and they basically said there is a small percentage of men that could probably get any of the available women. But the idea of being a woman with a high level of education doesn't always pan out when to trying to marry a guy who is above her on the socioeconomic status.

There is something about dating sites that reeks of desperation. Some people even relocate to a new location to meet Mr./Mrs. Right. That does seem to be a new level of "can't find a spouse".

The other thing that could be added to the discussion is the millennial women dating Gen X guys because the millennial men are not masculine enough for their liking.

My anecdotal evidence from observing the secondary market for both men and women is that men are able to trade up or at least match what they had while women trade way down both in looks and earnings.
